Seems 5th Gear have just invented a new feature format - take an aged but ultra-reliable car and subject it to a series of trials to see if it will keep going .... but wait a minute! Didn't Top Gear do this (and very fine TV it was too) nearly 2 years ago? Pur-lease Vicky - try and think of something new, or the viewers will think you're just copying big brother

Add to that the fact that 5G typically reviews the same cars as TG but 2 weeks later, and you have a distinctly stale TV programme. They need to think of some original material or they will just go under. Personally, if TG hired Plato to replace Hammond, I think 5th Gear could be scrapped.

I think you're right. I always make an effort to watch TG but that 5th Gear is pretty poor now in comparison. In fact the only decent thing is VBH's chest jiggling about when she's hooning round the track - or is that just me.....

It could be worse though......... Have you had the misfortune of actually watching that vroom vroom show. Utter utter garbage of the highest order.

Last weeks comparison of the Golf GTI and Octi vRS around the track was pathetic. Being driven in reverse gear! What kind of meaningful test is that!

Did start questioning why i bother.

I only watch it for Tiff's sections, talks a lot of ******** some times but drives like a demon, tonight's episode with the fezza fiorano was great...

Stumbled across 5th Gear tonight so thought I'd watch it. IMHO, it was a complete waste of an hour of my life

Why was there a 'feature' about the filming of M:I3? It had very little to do with cars or vehicles in general and looked like it would appear as an extra on the DVD. The interview with Nick Freeman, the defence lawyer, told us very little about legal loopholes and was more about watching him play golf or driving his SLK or Bentley.

They spend more time on the show reminding us about their weekly competition and what's coming up later. The only vaguely interesting part was Tom Ford at the Japanese motorway services and their night time car parties.

Utter drivel. How it is still on tv, i do not know.

First 5th gear ive seen for a while, couldnt believe what I was seeing, Top Gear rip off:eek: but nowhere near as good.

VBH :thumbdwn: why was she screaming when the Merc was in the water? It didnt look deep enough for the car to completely submerge. All the silly school girl shrieks were getting on my nerves.

Agree with you there.

The last couple of shows have not been that good.

Enjoyed the car/boat thing though.

any car tiff or jason drives fast has got to be worth watching , but i agree some of the things they have on are a bit pointless , at least on topgear when its pointless its highly amusing as well

It's been said before in several threads, fifth gear is utter ******s!.

Fifth gear went downhill when they started trying to copy the new topgear. Before that they had quite good reviews and a good mix of fast and normal cars. Now it is just a poor version of top gear.

Fifth Gear is crap apart from Tiff or Jason's test drives.

Unfortunately TG is now pretty crap as well. Didn't see this week's but I'm sure on the previous one they actually only tested one car.

Cast your minds back to the last series where 5th Gear claimed to be giving away a pale blue S2000 that belonged to VBH..........

Now on last night's show where the AA man was starting the Merc, VBH came running from wwhere she'd clearly been having a break and yes, you've guessed it, she was running from a pale blue S2000

Fifth Gear went downhill the day they started broadcasting it.

I quiet enjoyed the review of the Hydrogen powered car on last week's show, rest of it was mediocre though.

I do not like VBH either, i reckon Alison Goldfrapp should present the show, it would do it for me!

I wonder if Top Gear' newest presenter (the dog) is a tounge in cheek joke at VBH's expense ?

What they need to do to improve the show, is get a reasonably priced car and get loads of celebs to drive it around a track and see who gets the quickest time!! That hasn't been done before.................................................................................. has it!!!!:confused:

Top gear is going downhill just slightly slower than 5th Gear imho, the best part of TG so far this season was when they had the tea party/reasonably priced car contest with the random celebrity guests turning up, they should have that every week, v. funny!!! I agree, VBH is getting annoying, the whole format of TG and 5thG is carp now, I think the BBC are getting complacent as they realise the show has such a huge following...
