wind deflectors

Featured Replies

Just fitted a set of these to thew front and rear windows they seem pretty good but was just wondering if anyone else has fitted these and got the metal clips to fit into place seem way to tight to me and did not want to force them in ???

Uhm, didn't know such stuff is still sold, might be an idea as a present for my wife's car.

The video (for Octavia) says you might not need to fit them and suggest the use of a rubber conditioner for fitment.  Though Gummi Pflege (just Rubber Care in German) might just be an over expensive VW recommended, I can't say as I've never used it.

I'd use GT85 or AutoGlym Bumper & Trim Gel for the installation of deflectors and metal clips, as that's what I use on the door seals (or you could use silicone).

I've got Team Heko ones on my Fabia. Metal clips were a bit of a [female dog] to get in, but did eventually go. The deflectors do waggle themselves loose from time to time, but they just get pushed back in again.

You must always allow for the angle of the dangle, or so the experts say.

So finally, we're at the "sticking unnecessary crap all over the car" phase, you must have run out of stuff to break and subsequently fix...

They're still very popular here in Ireland, surprised at NTA's comment as I thought it would be the same in the UK.

And just imagine how good that feels.  😊

Until the next bit of German engineering "quality" on the car fails that is, but let's be positive and say that won't be until after the weekend. 😁

Perhaps I just don't notice them, I'm not very observant at the best of times, I try to warn people about this particularly if they see me driving.

I have noticed a few cars with them on but not very many and not so much recent years, but I don't get out a lot -though I'm told I need to. 🙂

There is location location location and actually using a car and carrying animals and people.

So like being in Sunny South Ayrshire where it p1ssed down today, and sometimes there is snow in winter and sitting in a car and having the windows a little open and rain not coming in or the interior steaming up is nice and then not freezing overnight.

Not all park up in the balmy southern parts of the UK.

We love ours for having the windows down a little when it's peeing it down without water coming in.

Plus it lets us drop the windows enough for the dog too. Had them on previous cars too.

🤣 I didn't even notice them in roottoot's photo until I looked harder, perhaps DieselMonte is right and I just don't notice them.  The optician said I didn't need glasses for driving but I think he might have just got worn down trying to sort what lenses would work on me.

They blend in well on my car in fairness so I can see what you mean.

Exactly the reason I fitted them to the Yeti.  I can leave it sitting in the drive, here in sunny Fife, with the windows cracked and any passing showers won't get into the interior.

It would be even better if I could source front window blinds to match the rears but the only ones I ever found were from Russia and £££.

The downside is that they do increase audible wind noise, especially in combination with the roof bars, at speeds in excess of 70 mph.

Now I will see them everywhere!

But how then do you keep the dust down on the upholstery.

Now that has burst the bubble I was hoping it would reduce the wind noise, especially whilst driving along with the windows down a bit to get more outside air into the car.

Do others find increased wind noise with deflectors fitted?

Yes I do. There's slightly more wind noise, but at this point I tune it out along with the clunking exhaust, console bushes, and other issues I don't want to spend money on. Turn the stereo up and it's fine. :D

Funny I found it slightly reduced wind noise if anything on mine.

i put a front set on my mk2 octavia 2 yrs ago.

hekos, and the little clips were a tad annoying, but a good shove with a flat head screwdriver got them in and even up.

wind noise is a bit worse alright, but the main benefit is - leaving the windows open an inch and not worrying about it raining inside. and the lack of fogging up on the move.

I will hive my noise verdict once I've been out tomorrow although I'm a fellow believer in anniyingpentiums fix 😁

Run the aircon and it won't fog up.  I run mine on both cars all the time.  Shame they don't make motorcycle helmets with aircon or I'd have on of those as well.

i do, except my aircon is currently o/o/o as i havnt got around to replacing the radiator following its mangling by a fox a couple of months ago

Also currently in the broken air con camp so wind deflectors are a big help there.

I changed the pressure switch and it should just need a regas, but at the minute I want to see where I am at after fixing more important stuff.

You go more than 70mph? I wouldn't dream of doing that

Probably something a struggle with only 68 bhp, I'd have thought.  The last car I owned with such little power was a 1985 FIAT Uno 70S.  Although it was somewhat lighter at c. 840 Kg and would haul itself up to just over 100 mph eventually.

Nooooooo not at all......... :bandit:
