Is the 340i streets ahead of the VRS apart from the obvious interior space? Also I wonder how much the hire car bill from the accident management /money making company is adding to the £10K repair cost.

Yeah it's a different league TBH, but it is a lot more expensive. The infotainment is much much faster. I'd say the interior finish isn't light years ahead though, bar the full leather. I'd own one in a heartbeat lol

Think the insurance are being charged around £30 a day for this car so that's £1800 already.

Hey, did they fix this in the end? Just had pretty much the same thing happen to my 9 month old Octavia mk4 SE L - Wheel arch, rear door, rear quarter panel and bumper all dented and rear wheel pushed in slightly at the top 😔 Noone hurt, no glass smashed and no airbags deployed, thankfully. Wondering if they're going to fix it or will I end up with a write off and outstanding finance to pay... 😬

They fixed mine. The only thing that would be different is that mine was damaged when used car prices were crazy high due to covid. If it'd happened a year later I think the car would have been written off.

Thanks for getting back to me. Mine has just been recovered to a VAG approved repair shop yesterday. The technician reckons he can fix it for less than £10k (Admirals limit is 60% of the value of the vehicle. Glass valuation has it at £25k, so should be ok for repairs up to £15k), the cost really depends on what's behind that rear wheel. I'll pop the outcome in here when we know, anyway. I've pushed Admiral on their new for old policy if they do write it off, as the vehicle is under a year old and I'm the first and only owner / prospective owner. They've said that's someone they should be able to offer. Hoping for a good outcome either way 🙏🏻

Are you going through Admiral (either your fault, or paying your excess) or are you going through Auxillis?

Going through Admiral, who's the insurer for the at fault party.

Good. I was going to say, I went through Auxillis when some muppet ran up the back of me a few years ago, and it was a nightmare. As long as the body shop is VW approved, you'll be fine.

Best of luck - it's unfortunate and inconvenient, but such is life.

Cheers Occy, will let you know how it goes.
