Ordered a PC - Need a transformer??

Featured Replies

Why do you need a transformer?

The PC is 110 - 115v

It might be obvious to everyone else, but why have you ordered a PC that runs on 110V?

Anyway, I thought most electrical items could cope with either 110/230V nowadays.

He means a PC (Porter Cable) Buffer for the car, Its imported from the states and runs 110V

might be a silly question but why are all these people ordering their PC's from the states, surly you can buy electric car polisher in the UK?

Doh! :o

There are some polishers available which run on 240v, however, these tend to be a rotary action, where the PC is a dual action Rondom polisher, and is much safer to use.

The PC is an incredible piece of kit, and without temping fate mine has being going for three years now, seen approx 300hrs plus work. How many hand held machines do you know can handle that at this cost?:D Might have to start at looking to replace mine soon.....

Sorry mate I had assumed that by putting it in the Styling and Car Care section it would have been more obvious that it wasn't computer related - hope it's clearer now.

If you have a Porter Cable then you'll probably know it's often called a PC. :P

I've been reading up on these over at detailing world and i'm just about to order one from autopia. Thanks for the link to the transformer Stu i'll be ordering one of those too now the screwfix model has gone up in price. :)

I'm a bit confused about the polishing side, should I be ordering Sonus polish from autopia at the same time as ordering my pc or does the pc work with the wax polish I already have from waxwizard. :o

From what I can see Sonus do 3 types of polish which is a bit confusing, which ones would I want for my vRS which is looking rather unloved at the moment hence my interest in a bit of detailing. :)

SFX_1 Restore Polish

SFX-2 Enhance Swirl Remover

SFX-3 Final Finish Polish

At a guess i'd say i'd need 2 & 3.

I'll also be ordering some detailing clay and lubricant.

Thanks for any info for a newbie.

Although I have Sonus SFX2 thrown in for free from Autopia with the correct kit, members from Detailing world have informed me that VAG paint is very hard and the Sonus might not be up to the task.

They have recommended Menzerna Intensive Polish, Menzerna Final Touch Glaze and Blackfire Wet Diamond for my Skoda
