Tyre Pressures

Featured Replies

On a few occasions the warning signal " low pressure in one of the tyres" has displayed. While on one occasion it was a genuine problem as the tyre was flat  but on two other occasions on mesasuring the tyre pressure they were within a few pounds/inch pressure.

On the last occasion I noticed that the nearside pressures were about 3 lb/inch2 higher than the offside and realised that the car being parked in bright sun had caused the difference, this was enough to trigger a fault condition so always a good idea to keep a pressure guage in the car. When the Low pressure display occurs if you reset the tyre pressures in the settings menu and no more fault displays occurs all is probably OK if however the display returns then you probably have a flat tyre.

I would check tire pressures before re-setting the computer and would keep in eye on tires couple times a day to make sure visually none of them is loosing air.

I had similar a few weeks ago, low pressure drvers side rear. checked and 2 or 3 lb down. Checked  at home and pumped it up, found a nail!

Took it to be repaired and they found the nail hadn't penetrated the carcass so NO puncture!

They didn't charge me ! It's been fine since.

I do keep a regular check and reset the settings so just a Phantom puncture.😱

Sounds very similar to my experience in Austria in July. Only for me the screw I found had penetrated and I needed a repair. Again, ony ~3psi low, and it told me which tyre it was. My previous cars do not indicate which wheel was the issue, even though the abs system knows which wheel it is, and this could have been communicated with a few exra lines of software code. Also the pressure loss has been somewhat greater, 5-6 psi. Again this is probably a coding issue, perhaps to cut down on spurious alarms.
