Suddenly wing mirrors cannot be adjusted

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

we have Kodiaq for over 3 years and this morning it turned out that its wing mirrors surface cannot be adjusted by the rotary knob. Their surface is  actually in a position which is not very helpful and cannot be changed.

Should I go to a service (we still have warranty) ?

If they have stopped working, and you are in warranty, then let the dealer fix them at no charge to you

Are you aware that the joystick knob also has 3 rotary positions and that the central one is to stop the mirrors being adjusted by mistake?

Central position = no adjustment.

L = adjust left mirror.

R = adjust right mirror.

Except the Simply (not!) Clever Skoda people decided that the default programming of the body control module should be that the left mirror setting adjusts both mirrors

As a driver (RHD) you normally set your drivers mirror first, then if you do the passengers one you will change the settings that you have just set on the drivers one, you dont see it moving as you are looking at the passenger one.

It only took me a decade to work out why my drivers mirror needed such frequent readjustment 😳

Maybe not stopped working, I get the impression that its the first time in 3 years that the OP has tried adjusting the mirrors hence my posting.

I could have misunderstood though.

We adjust them at least once a day as my wife and me have different hights.

My mistake, you will be well aware of the switch then.

It would be worth giving it the good news though just in case a contact is stuck or oxidised, not likely if its used each day.

It could be the beginning of the fractured wires in the door bellows syndrome.

Do I have to the same dealer where we purchased the car or can it be any Skoda dealer ?

RTFM :)

There is a setting in infotainment which allows to switch the two - mirror adjustment on and off.

I did RTFM, you may have the setting but my last 3 vehicles have not had it, I can change it with VCDS.

RTFM'ing for a decade on the MK1 Octavia would not have made the slightest difference, nor the MK2 nor the Yeti.

It was incredibly frustrating to eventually find out what was happening and that I had not been going mad.

Then RTFT  ( thats RTF Topic )  Do you own a Kodiaq? What's the point advising anyone based on how an old Yeti or even older Octavia works on a Kodiaq thread? A Yeti interior is based on a Mk6 Golf - that's about 13 years old FFS. A mk1 Octavia - that's last millenium!

As linni says, on a Kodiaq, the setting for both mirrors to be adjusted simultaneously is actioned via the infotainment.  ( that's  radio for Yeti owners / wireless for Octavia mk1 owners :D )

Adjusting them every day for over 3yrs? It may be as simple as a burnt out motor.

I sincerely apologise for having offended you by speaking in general Skoda terms in a Kodiaq section.

I apologise also for advising  someone with a problem of the existence of the central non functioning position of the manette and the crazy situation of the right mirror losing its position while you adjust the left, it has never been written in the manuals, perhaps they have put that right with the Kodiaq, it has caught many people out not just myself and most, like myself were/are unaware of it.

I apologise also for favouring vehicles that you disdain and consider unworthy.

Strange, I had this setting in my Superb 2 already as I do have now in Kodiaq.

+1 My 2010 and 2013 Yetis both had the simultaneous mirror adjustment option that could be turned off.

Tell me the menu and I will look again, mine is a later vehicle so presumably it should be there, it is  a base model in terms of options.

I hope this does not offend Kodiaqsportsline.

Setting the mirror surfaces synchronously
This function allows the simultaneous adjustment of the two mirror areas. The
function can be activated/deactivated in Infotainment in the menu: car  → settings  → Mirrors and wipers (activated/deactivated).

I don't have a "car" menu but there is a settings menu somewhere, from memory it has time & date, winter tyres, litres or gallons etc, I'll look tomorrow.

It seems that Skoda tend to have a run of faults affecting certain components. The electric boot opening beeping is a recent one, as is the mirror control knob.  There have been a handful of similar complaints about the boot and mirror control knob on social media.

I am not sure what has happened but suddenly (yeah, suddenly again ...) the wing mirors just started working and can be adjusted by the knob. ...

And no, neither me nor my wife went to a service.

What is going on ?

OTA software updates?

Do they do OTA software updates in Skoda Kodiaq (and others) ?

Only for infortainment but even then that's on cars built approx Sept 2020 onwards.  Perhaps linni thinks you drive a Tesla :D

It stopped working again. Did anybody have similar issues ?

  • 3 years later...

@New11 Mines doing the same did you ever get a fix? TIA

Sounds like a dodgy switch. Get it checked at a dealer maybe...
