Traffic Information on Maps

Featured Replies

Hi,

My maps on Mib3 Skoda Karoq 1.5 have just started not showing traffic information (eg red if traffic jam etc etc).

Just checking to see if this might be a temporary problem with Skoda's map servers or whether it is a problem with my infotainment system.

Has anyone else in UK noticed a problem since yesterday?

Thanks

Have you checked Skoda connect to see if if your licence as ran out

Just use Google maps, Waze or Apple. No need to pay.

Thanks for replies.

It has suddenly started working again.

Must have been a glitch.

I use Waze or Google Maps when the traffic is really bad. But the Skoda maps have been reasonably good for general use and often sensibly reroute when traffic conditions dictate.

Traffic info (plus I believe parking and petrol price info) come as part of the Infotainment Online service. Free for a year on new cars (or it was in 2020/21) and then you have to pay a fee to renew the licence each year. Skoda should contact you to offer the option, but at around £40 I didn't feel it was worth it. We use Waze on our iPhone which connects wirelessly to the car via Apple Carplay, meaning the phone's screen shows up on the Infotainment screen and you can control Waze etc. from there. Yes, having the Skoda satnav as the go to service given it is integral to the infotainment system is missed, but is traffic info really worth paying £40 odd a year for?

Infotainment online (plus other online / over-the-air functions) can be activated by dealers when selling used cars that have MIB3.

I don’t have Skoda connect any more. Huge problems getting it to connect reliably via iPhone. Took minutes before each journey getting car to connect via phone hotspot, gave up on end and never paid to renew.

However it still reroutes sometimes around traffic and shows roads closed etc? How does it know?

Same for me (on my lowly MIB2 system).  I see some traffic incidents on the maps and no connect subscription to get the traffic via the internet.  When I use the main menu and look at "Traffic" I can see plenty of TMC entries and these are being sent to the mapping/navigation.  I live in the South-west of the UK and nowhere near Scotland and the radio based transmission of traffic alerts (TMC) seems to be working down here for me.  There was some talk on other posts that TMC does not work in England on VAG cars but I am finding it working. How accurate/up-to-date it is I don't know.
