Remap / chiptuning available for the 2.0tsi VRS!

The DQ381,s do not have proven reliability or longevity yet.

Actually they are showing as being possibly troublesome.  Running one without a warranty needs to be taken into the equation.

Surely this is an improvement on predecessor with lessons learned and improvements made? Not heard of any troubling issues with these as yet...like any "auto" box depends how you treat them I guess

I imagine that those remapping intend to give them welly at some point and are not just doing it to improve the economy.

Sadly VW Group appear not to have learned, but maybe they will reduce the service interval eventually and include the filter, 

and maybe even put a decent warranty on them.

Thanks for the v useful info and links as I intend to be keeping the car for quite some time I'll be looking to get DSG oil/filter change done at 4 yrs as opposed to the recommended 8!! 

I dont tend to welly the car too much but do like the idea of having an extra bit of power ... always ensure that both engine / gearbox oil are nicely warmed up

Maybe of interest to those with remaps and using 97 min or 99 min E5 in the UK from the various petrol retailers with E5..

So, I remapped a couple of months ago with Phantom Tuning.

I’m well impressed with the performance gain. Economy is a little better.

3rd & 4th are insane!

I really wanted the gains for 3,4,5 & sixth gears.

Bearing in mind it wheel spun in first & seconds anyway, I’m not interested in launching. (Mines manual)

If I get the timing right, she’ll still wheel spin in 3rd!!

 

 The one thing I would like to know, is do you have a quiver at 2,000rpm ish? Especially in the higher gears if you floor it?

That could be due to the calibration asking for 100% wastegate duty when full throttle is demanded at lower RPM. This is basically to get the turbo going and move air as demanded by the go pedal. From tuning my own cars with Cobb access port, I could produce a stutter like you describe at under 2,5k rpm resulting from an over boost situation, the ECU responds by flicking the throttle body to half shut a few times in that split second to slow the huge wall of air coming in. I don't know if your map has boost by gear but you usually feel this happening in 3rd or above as it happens too quickly in 1st and 2nd to detect as well as often being boost limited in FWD maps.

Yeah, it’s mainly in 4th, 5th & 6th, most noticeable in 6th. It’s mainly me being lazy on the motorway and not bothering to down shift. I only let it do it a couple of times thinking it might have been road surface or something but then realised so I don’t let it happen anymore.

Just a general one, If it's a manual with no kick down, it's kinder to your connecting rods to drop a gear rather than asking for heaps of torque at low rpm. Modern ECUs will protect the engine from det, but it's still the worst kind of load as the most ignition advance is occuring at about 2k rpm partial throttle.
