I decided to just remove the DPF and send it off to get it professionally cleaned. Will begin with that in the coming days. I haven’t had the car up on a lift yet since I bought it, and seen how things are located underneath. Do you know if it’s enough to lower the subframe to be able to get the DPF out, or do I have to completely drop the subframe altogether?

Not gonna lie, mine was cleaned in situ.  Chemical sprayed down the DPF pressure pipe.

Hopefully someone can let you know, odds are it can be squeezed out with a little moving of other parts.

  • So i decided to just replace the DPF, but the one I want to order is out of stock at the moment. In the meantime as a temporary solution, to stop the car from regenerating all the time while never fin

  • That oil ash comes from material in the oil that cannot be burnt into smaller particles.   The value for your car is nothing to worry about, wait until you get to 230k km and measure again t

  • Here is some values I pulled from VCDS. This is after 6 hours of almost straight highway driving after a journey I did today.

I was tempted to try this as well, but it seems more like a band aid solution if anything, if my DPF is really that heavily clogged. I’m looking for a long term solution so I hopefully won’t have this issue again, since I very rarely drive short journeys unlike the previous owner.

Hopefully someone knows, otherwise I will update with the process.

Did a DPF clean solve your problem?? 🤔

Yes it did.

DPF values before cleaning:

Weight: 10105 g

Back pressure: 79 mbar

Flow: 108 m³/h

DPF values after cleaning:

Weight: 9870 g

Back pressure: 27 mbar

Flow: 511 m³/h

Hm, weird. Today i saw idle at 1000 rpm yet again and the cooling fan running after shutting the car off. Checked with VCDS and it’s showing 15g of calculated soot and 6g measured. Yet VCDS is also saying that last regen was many thousand seconds ago, which should be correct as it shouldn’t even trigger an active regen until it reaches 22.5g of calculated soot. Think i might also replace the pressure sensor just to be safe.

FYI, I did reset oil ash mass after the DPF was cleaned, which also resets soot values.

They will do a regeneration at 1,000km regardless of any soot loading.  So it may have been that.

Ah forgot about that. Isn’t it even more frequent if you have the emissions fix as well? Or so I’ve heard

Most report frequent regenerations with the fix yes.

How do i know if mine has the fix?

Rule of thumb, if the engine software is 9970 or higher, then that's 99% likely to be down to NOx fix
