Remotely Lock & Unlock Doors Using MySkoda App

Featured Replies

What subscription do you need to unlock the car using the App, also how do you set it up?

Cheers

The subscription is the Care Connect, £36/yr in the uk.

To set up you need to be a verified main user of the car, will need the Dealer to do the verification. After that, it should appear in the app.

However, if your car is like mine, it isn’t supported despite the web pages saying it’s available on cars since somewhen in 2018. There is a checker online, type in the VIN and it’ll let you know what services are available for your car (if I can find the page again will add it).

Cheers Sneal, I’ve entered my vin and it does have the feature, technology model. Do you know if you need both keys to set it up, I read you need to take both keys into the car to set it. We’ve lost one key and are considering this as a very basic back up to at least get us into the car should we lose the last key.

Sorry, I don't know. My car doesn't have the feature either so never got that far!

It’s not the keys, it’s proving you’re the owner by taking id like drivers licence to a dealer who then activate it for you. No cost

You need 2 keys unfortunately.

I had it set up and at no point did I need to hand my keys over. It was just an administrative task at the dealership once I gave proof of who I was via my driving licence. I have both keys, but didn't even have the second one with me or need it once I returned home for the app to work

Interesting. I needed 2 keys, even though i was activating at the dealership and my ownership been confirmed.

I clearly remember needing two keys - that was for the configuration of the Primary User in the car. Indeed, if you are happy with being defined as Guest you don't need both keys.

The dealership had to confirm/validate me on some Skoda server - so that my account on Skoda App would be allowed to remotely control the car (lock, unlock etc.). Without that validation you basically have some sort of "read-only" rights - you can see the status, but can't change anything.

Thanks for the responses. I’ve started a free 28 day trial and it says I need to take driving license to dealer to confirm ownership. But I think I’ve already sat in it with both keys when the car was new and I registered the app 2 years ago.

Driving licence check at dealership for me, no requirement to hand over or show my keys. I was already registered as a primary user before sorted the remote lock feature if that makes any difference.

IIRC you need both keys to become Primary User in the car; to be authenticated via the dealer I didn't need both keys, just ID and proof of purchase.
