Silverstone F1 Grand Prix

Featured Replies

Anyone else going this weekend?

I know I'm likely to be deafened by the cars (got the ear plugs ready), and probably won't get much sleep or a decent shower, but I've never been to a GP before, so I'm getting excited about it now.

I will be camping at Litchlake Farm campsite from Thursday until Monday, so as well as the track action I will be taking in the footy on the big screens on Saturday afternoon, and the Status Quo concert on Sunday night.

I won't be in the Octy though - we have managed to borrow the company's Seat Ahlambra pool car - which is probably a good job based on the amount of beer that will be going with us!

Take a portable radio with you, preferably with earphones.

That way you can tune into Silverstone FM and get the commentry.

If I can get the day off work I'll be there on Friday in the Renault hospitality box. :)

I wanted to go but It's pointless this year as it far better watching at home (view/commentary) and also the Football is on. would be good to go next year and make a weekend of it.

Never been to a GP but have been to various testing/historic events, Forget the earplugs and revel in the noise it is awsome and makes the atmosphere. (Standing in the Ferrari garage when they shove in the "cattle prod" bairn sh@ himself and swmbo ignored me for a week, Claimed to be deaf ) enjoy

A lot depends on how close you are, most places at silverstone are far enough away for ear plugs to be down to personal choice. But if you get up close and personal then they are a must. I was 10-15 feet away from Massa in the '02 Ferrari at Goodwood in 2003 when he gave it the full 18k to spin it round... Loud? Oh Yes! Couldn't hear much for about the next five minutes!

:D

Well its 1.45am and I'm still packing. Got the camping gear loaded up, and the fridge full of beer and wine waiting to be transferred to the cool box in the morning.

If anyone gets flashed by a Seat Ahlambra tmrw it will probably be me!
