Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

HI, I have a 22 plate VRS and I was wondering if anyone has added something to the exhaust to make it sound a little better when you are in normal and sport modes, as you only correctly get the sound out the speakers!

Be interested to hear if anyone has doner anything.

The search facility on Brisky is really quite good, and shows several threads already on this, e.g.:

I've been looking at an external soundkator (essentially). There are a few on the market that seem ok. I'd love to go a full exhaust but being a lease and a work car, kinda have to keep it as stock as possible. If there was a muffler only swap route I'd love that but it will have no meaningful impact. The price is pretty similar to the exhaust system with no performance enhancement which is a bitter pill. The sound though is tuneable  which is pretty cool and would have no impact to warranty from what I've read but stuck on the fact that it's a cosmetic change only.

Does anyone out and about really care what an Octavia sounds like?   Do they think Skoda have started building sporty cars finally.

It’s a case of each to their own isn’t it really.

The VRS model should have an exhaust note, the mk4 is far too quiet IMO. Sure the other Octavia models can be as quiet as a mouse but why promote your top spec vehicle as the “sports” or “hot hatch” and make it sound like a vacuum cleaner? Just my ten pence worth 🤪

They had to get WLTP and RDE2 results, and flaps and overboost and kidology was so so.  Ford did the over fueling for Parps and poops.    Anyway, Australia is not in the EU or worried by World Wide Harmonisation.   Not even emissions.     I like going fast, no need to draw attention to it to people just going about their day, sitting in their garden or bed.

You’re right there, it really is a case of each to their own!

I have a VRS petrol and the biggest flaw with it is the ridiculous fake sound that cannot be switched off entirely. I see no point in Skoda spending millions of euros refining the NVH only to undo that work with a fake sound.

I like the performance of the car but would rather do that in as quiet and smooth a way as I can, as opposed to making loads of noise inside or outside the car…

I like a quiet car without the raucous exhaust note, all a noisy exhaust does is attract the unwanted attention of the police and your neighbours.

It's nice to have a sporty car without the attention of others.

Hi, the "stock" Octavia vRS has not so much of a great sound, but there were some limited editions, atleast in my country with Skodas own "sporty" exhaust - only for petrol versions. Some reviewer take the hifi mic and attached it to the car so you can hear how it sounds like. Sadly its in czech - but in the middle of the page there is a video, so you can check by yourself.

Its not exhaust noise like Golf R has or something like this... Its still a family car thats fast/good looking and will not ruin your wallet and with this sound is something like the cherry on top of a cake. Only sad thing is, that it has not movable flaps, so you can not turn it off completely, but with the easy driving around 1800-2500 rpm there is no sighns of the sporty exhaust at all :) Only when you pull the trottle down, its starting to telling you that is there :) .

This special editions (different names probably in different regions) has only one noticable difference - exhaust pipes (black instead of silver).

Now that is exactly what I'm after. Not obnoxious but enough to sound like she's got some grunt. I've done a google search but can't find anything about this oem sport exhaust. Would anyone know the part no or what I should be searching for?

I'm also very interested to find out if this OEM exhaust is available to buy in Europe.

Yeah, Škoda is basically tells no info about the exhaust and there is also no info (or i did not found any) in ETKA. Ill maybe ask my dealer next time, to check acc to my VIN code if they can tell mě the nunber of exhaust to be able to order some where.

I was thinking it might be the same exhaust system but no opf filter. I think opf is not mandatory in all countries.

In Czech there is definitely mandatory opf filter for new engines. In the specification of version "challenge plus" was explicitly said "sport exhaust for 2.0tsi" also in the article what I posted is written that it's made by Škoda directly and it's different from Stock one

It definetly sounds different! The remus isn't bad but sounds a little like rice canon. If it's gonna be loud, I'd want the pops and crackle. This one is perfect :). I'd so be snapping one up now if I could find one

This one is not about how it sounds, but about how it looks... 🥰

I got so excited when I first saw his creations. Bit gutted that he's a virtual artist very talented though!!!

Imagine how I felt - ordered the car blind - no demo cars, so no test drives, nothing. Came from a Mini Cooper S JCW. My god is the vRS quiet. My god is that stupid fake sound annoying. But you know what, kind of agree with some of the comments, I went from something clearly not practical to a more one-car-fits-all family estate and it's refinement in the car even when pressing on is quite pleasant. Still, even at 42, wish there was a '**** the neighbours off' button too!

@thommo41 I was in a similar position.. I was looking for a VRS and fell lucky on a cancelled order. But I bought the car without a test drive, just sat in it in the showroom.

I was coming from a 695 Abarth, now that is a noisy and harsh beast and to be honest after 2 years I’d had enough of it. Unbeatable for putting a smile on your face and having a blast, but a real pain if you wanted to do to the supermarket or just do “normal” driving. Or go to IKEA, the tip, and stuff like that.

What I love about the VRS is it’s versatility, I run it in Eco when trolling around with supermarket runs and the like, and can now bung it in sport when I want to have a bit of fun.

The icing on the cake though was when another member here managed to switch the volume down on to fake sound to Zero, so I now have for me a pretty perfect blend of a car.

@FatWolfie on my mobile so searching not ideal, how does one turn the fake sound to zero? As in all the time or just via modes? I am sick of switching modes on every start

Here's the link, you don't need ODIS, but you need tool that can talk to the module and gain access to adjust.

It persists in ALL modes, so no matter the profile it is gone for good.
