Reset change key battery alarm

Featured Replies

I have changed the battery in the keyfob but the alarm still says "change the key battery".

How do I reset/cancel it ?

Try another battery.

It is a brand new Duracell battery.

Still got the alarm right after replacement.

There must be a way to clear the alarm just trying to find out the way or do you need an OBD scanner ?

Its a battery issue, alarm will go away as soon as your battery is changed. As @john999boy say, try another battery. Be sure its replaced correctly in the keyfob. No OBD needed.

I've been having this issue for months and no new battery will solve it. I've changed batteries in both keys.

My car is going to the dealer at the end of this month and this is one of the things I've asked them to look at.

I just changed the battery in my key and noticed in the manual a step to reset the key. After removing the old battery, press a key button, then insert the new one.

assume this resets the alarm/alert.

So, within a couple of weeks of changing my key battery I got the alert again! This time I used a Panasonic battery.

Still got the alert. Hmm…

Decided to remove all my Wi-Fi/RF trackers (Apple AirTags) from things I might take in the car just in case they were crowding the air waves. No change.

Removed battery from the key, cleaned all dust and debris from inside and cleaned the battery terminals with Craig Labs Deoxit D100L. No change.

Frustrated now…

Been ok for the last two weeks or so.

But thanks for all the suggestions my guess is that you need an ODM to clear all the errors.

Weeks ago, I couldn’t find the usual key for my Skoda, so I went for the spare one. Unfortunately the battery in that spare key was low and that gives me the message of “change key battery”.

Eventually I’ve found the main key but the message persisted. So I changed the battery, however, the message was still there.

At the end, changed the battery for the spare one and use it in the car, the message was automatically deleted.

Hope it helps.

Best batteries to use are Duracell IMHO, they seem to have the edge on any others out there.
