Front wheel arch liner foam

Featured Replies

Hey up, I’m still procrastinating about changing my xenon bulbs.

There’s a picture/video showing how to do it and I noticed that on his car he has foam which I guess is sound deadening.

On the same video someone said their Sportline didn’t have it, but is it on SE-L as standard?

The video for reference

There is only 2 parts listed for the wheel arch liner and that is

Left 3V0821105

Right 3V0821106

There is also noise insulation listed as 3v0805696 and 3v0805696a but it covers a huge amount of PR codes and to be fair, looks like it comes on all models.

Im unsure what this noise insulation is though.

That’s a really helpful YT vid, thank you. I’m planning on changing the 280’s in the summer.

Yeah I found the part numbers in ETKA (3v0 805..) only a couple of quid but someone’s comment was his Sportline didn’t have the foam bits.

I was thinking when I’ve got the wheel archers off I may aswell fit them there and then if missing, but would be good to know if it’s not there as I can get them ordered because it’ll come from factory no doubt

Don’t know if they’re designed to lower noise or just reduce drumming, but you can fit some thick foam pads and then should make a difference. As an aside. the tyre roar/road noise on ours has all but disappeared since I changed the P7’s for Conti All Season.

Mine came with the foam on the wheel arch liners.

I added some extra sound deadening material on it, just cause I had leftover material.

Yours is L&K right? I wonder if it’s 1st and 2nd class kind of thing 😂

It is labelled as “noise insulation”

When I had the asymmetric 6’s installed the cars near silent but I’m still thinking if I could get it quieter, not that’s it’s an issue.

I’ll see if I can remember to update this when I work out whether to get Osram night breaker lasers or Osram cool blue intense next gen. Be alright if it was £50 for a set of bulbs and I made the wrong decision but it’s double that and more 😞

sadly we don't get the L&K version here in Australia.

however we got a lot of options as standard, and option packs to add on top.
so whilst mine is officially a "Style" (according to mySkoda app, and erWin), it has most of the things that u c on the L&K.

regarding the insulation padding in the wheel arch - i'm not sure what classes they've got going.

i couldn't find anything obvious in my vehicle build sheet apart from "2B1 - Additional exterior noise suppression" and "3W3 - Special interior noise suppression".

not sure if that has any influence.

If this helps anyone, 2B1 is the code for the underbonnet

3W3 Are the codes used on these parts 14 & 15

thank you once again @varooom

so 3W3 is the one.

i do have under bonnet insulation too, hence the 2B1.

cheers 🙂

Oh that’s good to know, but I’d have to spend money on getting Erwin for an hour to get my build sheet doh.

I’ll go on the basis that it may or may not have it and will find out when I remove it.

If it doesn’t and it’s not that much of a chore removing the panels I’ll add it at a later date

thanks all

2x Free choices

  1. Find a main dealer, they might be in the mood to print off build codes for you
  2. Webchat to Skoda UK, they will often provide you a list

or you can pay for the hour on erWin, get build codes, wiring diagrams/repair manuals and then hit the online diagrams/repair manuals and fill your boots in the RED BOOK section where all the TPI's live and grab any relevant documents for your motor (recalls and repairs in there)

My car is in for a service and mot next week so I can ask them then if I don’t have any luck with the chat, which I didn’t know existed so cheers for that 👍

Interesting re tyres. . I’m on 18” wheels with Bridgestone Potenzas which are very road surface noise variable, very quiet some roads , loud on certain rough grippy surfaces ( we call the stuff winter grip tarmac, get a fair bit of that road surface Aberdeenshire).
what size wheels are you running ?

Did you remove the arch liners yourself and if so how easy or difficult was it ?  Thanks.

They’re the standard L&K 19” ones, but I can’t recall their name. Also I can cfm that ours has the foam on top of the plastic wheel arch liners.

Forgot to update this, I done a web chat with Skoda uk and wouldn’t tell me.

I then rang my local Skoda who said I have the 3W3 (2016 SEL) but I’m convinced they said I did to get me off the phone.

I’ll find out for sure whenever I change the bulbs

Update SEL from 2016 doesn’t have these so got them ordered in and will fit in summer time

They’re a lot thinner than I thought so should have just wrapped up a pitta bread and put them in there instead
