Dashcam Hardwire 2010 Superb 2

Featured Replies

I want to hardwire the dashcam in my 2010 Superb 2.

I'd usually pick up a switched 12v supply from the cigarette lighter but I've no checked to see if it's switched yet.

Where do people usually pick up a switched 12v supply from in this model?

I am pretty sure that the cigarette lighter socket is permanently live, as is the power socket in the luggage compartment.

Fuse 25 is for the rear screen heated element / auxillary heating / ventilation and definitely switched, which is the one I would tap into.

If the fuse blows, it's not going to cause any major issues.

Thank you

If you're running the cable down the A pillar, do not run it across the curtain airbag (this runs halfway down into the pillar). The safe thing to do is pop off the trim (it's just clipped in place) so you can see where the wire is running and avoid it interfering with the airbag.

Is there a convenient place to earth the cam?

If you run the cable down the A pillar and into the fuse box, you can pick up the feed and earth there, but be aware that the dashcam uses 5v, not 12v, so you will need a convertor,
