Does "Roo" have a Cambelt or Chain?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I was just wondering (as my mate & neighbour bangs on about changing cambelts everytime he gets a new car) does my 2007/07 1.6 16v automatic (non dsg) have a cambelt or chain? I've been told she is a chain.. but I just want to ask the experts on here.

Also how much to change one? Average? As I know it differs in location/area/garage etc of the UK.

As I dont have any service history with her I changed the drive/alternator belt last year.... is there any other belts I need to worry about/change?

Thank you in advanced as always 👍👊

If you have a 1.6l BTS engine code, then it's a chain

Hi varooom 👋🏻

Thank you for this 👊

Yes my engine code is BTS 👍  learnt something new already today 😂😂

Do you know what TRANS. CODE "JUF" means? - and does the gearbox ever need a oil change/service?

Thanks again

You have an 09G 6-speed automatic box

All I could see in maintenance is to check the levels of ATF fluid every 60,000km (40,000 miles roughly speaking)

No mention of a change in fluid being needed.

@toot Has all the charts for such changes, and will hopefully see the post now and let us know if there is a fluid change schedule I missed.

In the interests of science, I asked an AI this morning.

every 60,000km or 6 years. Fully synthetic atf, that meets vw/Audi spec g 052 162 A2.

…but then it also thought I was the founder on an iot company in south wales and won an award last year… so maybe they not spam emails after all.

It is a Tiptronic gearbox and as far as i knew even after 8 years of them being introduced & ones over 100,000 miles there was no Service Schedule for checks or guidelines or recommendations.

It is interesting and helpful that @varooomhas found that.    It would be good to know what date that was published / available.

Here you are, it does state check level and quality, so might be a good idea to possibly change for peace of mind.
