Front topmounts

Featured Replies

Hey all, cars coming up to 90k and I'm putting some Racingline 20mm lowering springs on. Planning to change the front topmounts whilst the struts are off but genuine ones are massively expensive (£146 per side!)

I've done a bit of searching but nothing obvious came up.

Last time I changed the front topmounts on a car with non OEM topmounts they fitted badly and made the car stand taller. Any recommendations for aftermarket without breaking the bank?

Pic for attention!

I've used lemforder. They seemed pretty much same dimension wise as oem as far as I can tell. Although, when you've had struts off and reassemble and drop car back down it does take a short drive to get everything to sit back down normally.

The repair version of the part comes with the bearing and the topmount which is what you want.

Thanks bud, from the second part of your reply am I right in thinking that originally the topmounts are one piece with the bearing? I contemplated just buying an OEM bearing and replacing this but sounds like it might not work.

Currently weighing up between Febi-Bilstein, Lemforder and trying to find OEM cheaper on eBay, I just currently don't have the part number.

It's just that the top mount is a separate part to the bearing. You can buy separately. Or,  lemforder at least bundle together in a different part number.

You may find oem genuine maybe  up to10 to 20% cheaper but they will still be pricey...unless someone selling off surplus.
