Wireless Charging

Featured Replies

I am about to take delivery of an April 2023 reg karoq Sportline, it is supposed to be the new 2022 facelift version, seems to have all the rest but not this? every bit of information I read says this should have wireless phone charging as STANDARD, however there is no wireless charger and the cubby for the phone is small, wont even take a Samsung S20 lying down.

Anyone come across this?

I believe the wireless charging only comes as part of the package with the full virtual cockpit on the SportLine, mine doesn’t have wireless charging (and specifically didn’t want it) so no great loss to me.

In hindsight I’m also glad I’ve got the standard 8” digital cockpit as after spending a bit of time driving an Octavia with the full VC I found it far too fussy and busy, the 8” version is so much ‘cleaner’ and also, to me at least, looks sharper.

My 2022 Sportline Karoq does NOT have the virtual cockpit but it does have wireless charging under the sliding panel forward of DSG gear selector.

It is not very obvious  - just looks like a rubber mat  - but we've tested it on my wife's Samsung (my Samsung is newer but without wireless charging capability). I've bought a short USB charging cable for mine which works perfectly and means I don't have manouvre my phone into the confined space.

I was talking to the dealers about specs the other week when I had to pop back and they were saying that specs have been a nightmare for the last 18-24 months. Car were being supplied with what were normally a cost option due the shortages. The VC being a big one, he was saying virtually every Karoq they supplied new up until quite recently came with the full VC at no extra cost to the customer.
Also things like wireless charging was another thing that seemed to be pot luck as to if it was fitted or not. Another that was mentioned was the full VC, he reckons it will be standard fitment later this year.

thanks for all responses, however it clearly states the Sportline SHOULD have wireless charging as standard, so Im going back to the dealer and demand it otherwise they can have car back, it isn't my problem if they have parts shortages, I paid for it, I want it, or at least some compensation, as an optional extra its £500+...too many manufacturers copping out but still charging full price..and shrugging shoulders.

thanks all

I’ve got a 23 MY SportLine and wireless charging isn’t a standard feature that I can see from the specification, it’s listed under ‘optional equipment’.

Hi,  as far as I can see your comment is incorrect, wireless charging is listed as standard on the Sportline, I looked at Skodas official site this morning and picked up the brochure for the Sportline Karoq, see screen shot from the brochures. Not sure what's going on here. Some people have it and others dont. Thanks for your response anyway.Screenshot_20230423_083102_Chrome.thumb.jpg.54fe7fd7164a78021b07344bce89bf40.jpg

It seems like they’ve changed the spec yet again then, although their current online brochure doesn’t reflect this, Škoda really are poor when it comes to keeping things up to date in their literature and online brochures.

Out of interest when did you order your Karoq? I ordered mine at the end of last November and took delivery last month.

This an April 23 pre reg sportline with...allegedly the face-lift, it has a couple of hundred miles on it. I had a similar experience a few years ago with Mercedes, I ordered what was the latest iteration (facelift) of a C class, what I got was the older model with the face-lift options added, the issue is, when you come to change it further down the line, the value is less because its actually the older model, after it all getting very messy they took the car back.. so do you know if there were any bodywork changes that I can see to prove this is actually the latest facelift model and not the older one with bits added. Thanks

Mine was a factory order and is the current 23 MY, the facelift model features a redesigned front grille and headlights/bumper, I don’t think there were any changes internally other than strange spec differences like the issue you raised here.

I know they alloys have changed since I took delivery of mine, mine came with 19” Sagittarius alloys where as the ‘latest’ ones are coming with 19” Vega alloys. I guess I, and possibly you, have been caught at the point where the spec changes over slightly.

The rear lights also changed slightly but the most obvious changes were at the front…

It'll depend on build date....

The 12/2022 brochure shows it as an option:

The 04/2023 brochure shows it as standard:

Given it's a pre-reg, I would expect it to pre-date the April 2023 spec revision and I would not expect wireless charging as standard.

I've attached both brochures for you, the imagery is identical so I imagine both are facelifts :)

Thank you for the two brochures...it seems the only difference between a late 22 facelift  model and a 04 23 facelift model is the admubdsen + package which includes wireless charging? The rest of the car including the front styling is the same, maybe different style wheels? Have I got that right? So they are claiming its the latest 23 spec when in fact its a late 22 spec? Thanks

Or are they claiming it's an early 23 spec?

With the spec changing every few months (bring back annual model updates!) it's become increasing difficult to know what the spec will be on a new or nearly new vehicle.

Yup, only two changes I noticed between the two are the alloys and Amundsen package plus.

The April 2023 brochure will only apply to cars ordered after that date, that seems very unlikely for a April 2023 registered car so the previous brochure is most likely to apply :)

Without the original advert it's impossible to say what they're claiming. If it mentions wireless charging then you probably have a case, if it doesn't then you're likely out of luck I'm afraid.

I was told that face-lifted Sportline Karoqs have black exterior trim on the front wheel arches. I only discovered this when trying to buy front and rear mudflaps. Mine is pre face-lift but the Skoda database gave the wrong front mudflap part number against my VIN (rears are same part number for both).

Fortunately my non-main dealer parts supplier spotted the error and asked for external photos to check. Neither of the earlier photos shows this - which potentially means there will be an annoying recess if front mudflaps are fitted to the 'new' one - unless I'm missing something obvious...........
