Xenons - Beam adaptors for driving on the 'wrong' side

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone help?

I'm heading down to Le Mans this coming week and have asked my local Main Dealer about adjusting my Xenon headlights for driving on the 'wrong' side of the road. He wasn't sure if stick-on beam adaptors would work. I've bought some adaptors from Halfords anyway and surprise, surprise there's no info about fitting them to a vRS's Xenons!

Any idea if I can fit these adaptors, and if so where to stick them? Is there a danger they'll melt onto headlight glass?

Cheers

Just had them on a BMW 535d. They just go right in front of the reflector. They easily peel off afterwards and wont leave a mark

Thanks.

'Stick on' beam adapters arent approved for use with xennons. You have to get them adjusted. Thats what the law says anywho... whether you get away with it it don't know....

 I had them on the BMW and they worked fine. It's just a small round sticker

I've definatly read it somewhere 'official' can't think where though...

Your dealer can configure the lights for driving abroad, it involves flicking a switch on the back of the light housing. The switch adjusts the beam so that the part of the beam that normally goes up on the left so that its flat.

Thanks for the advice. Opted to speak to Skoda Customer Services who confirmed the switch behind the lights..... They also confirmed that stick on adjusters are not suitable... Then spoke to my Main Dealer who reckon it's a bumper-off job to get at the switch and would therefore cost

1. Officially you have to adjust using the levers which 'flattens' the light.

2. Stick-on type things may not be enough and it will be hard to work out exactly where to put them. Might work, but I wouldn't trust them

3. Non-xenon headlight converters work fine, I am in NL at the moment and I verified with the local police it was legit, it was. They wouldn't say that if it wasn't as they're pretty hot on badly adjusted lights here.

My personal preference is definitely the converters, they fit well, work well, and you can use them again and again.

Yeah, the non-xenon converters seem to be the ones to get. Unfortunately Skoda have supplied the clear headlight covers to my main dealer. Doh! As I'm traveling today, there's no chance to swap them for the right ones - so will be putting the stick-on patches onto the clear covers when it gets dark tonight and will try to block out the left-facing beam - should be interesting!
