changing columbia head unit skoda octavia

Featured Replies

i am changing my colombus infotainment system to a pioneer car stereo.I have connected the am/fn aeriel via double fakra connector.I am left with yellow,blue,black and grey plugs in the glovebox and a black plug to the display screen.Would any of these plugs be for dab radio, usb and aux. I would be grateful for any help

Why would you get rid of the fully functioning radio with all the car features and fit an aftermarket radio that has no car control features?

The aux is on the blue plug, I believe usb is on the yellow 4 pin plug but it goes through a box at the usb port first so probably not compatible with whatever radio you fit.

and one of the single pin plugs possibly blue or black is for dab

thanks for the info, the sound went on the colombus, 2 diagnostic tests said i needed a new  one,skoda garage quoted 3 grand.

Plenty threads on here about retrofitting OEM units.  Potentially cheaper than the new one you have purchased.  Especially given the age of your car.

If interested then give @pab567 a shout.  He is a wealth of knowledge on this stuff and often can supply units.

Use a second hand unit for a fraction of the price - if it’s a like for like; any garage can do it,

if it’s an OEM upgrade you are after then it can be done by a specialist for still a damn sight less than 3k - wouldn’t expect to pay more than £1000 for this

yellow = usb

blue = gps antenna

black = dab antenna

grey = screeen conenctor.

As said, you will loose a lot of functionalities and retrofitting would surely have been cheaper.

Man went past this Post, @pab567 can help you with the retrofitting. Send your unit back and Contact him.

The USB port is the yellow plug for data and you must  send 5v from the unit to the quadlock in order to power the port.

As far as I know, only Alpin makes such an adapter. When I was on my Android devices, I had to build my own in order to have the USB port work. Splice and re-pin the USB power from the unit and pin it to the quadlock
