I'm looking to fit a detachable towbar to newly purchased yeti, seems there are 4 main choices.

Westfalia, brink, thule, pct and tow Trust. Any experience for or against any of them?

Personally I usually use Westfalia, but Brink/Thule are the same kit and is fairly good kit ... just not cheap.

Dont forget to get your Yeti "programmed" so it knows it has a towbar so all the electrics and stability control works correctly.

Westfalia every time, you can then get a panel in the bumper to cover it up when not in use, cant do that with Towtrust.

Don't forget to get it programmed correctly and get the fridge/12vdc/ground extra lines fitted even if you don't need them at the moment as you might one day.

I'll be doing the electrics and coding it, did my Mk2 superb and assume the yeti will be much the same.

Looking to use the ecs wiring kit which looks like it'll be full 13pin spec.

Just looked at the ECS kit says its for Yeti with a prefitted connector, I believe that a Yeti will only have this if its had factory towbar prep. Most havent.

They do kits for without prepared connector

I have the Westfalia removable one fitted by a local specialist, but I don't think they reprogrammed the electrics as mentioned above. No problems at all towing my caravan which comes in at 79% of the Yeti kerbweight.

Couple of checks to see whether it has been reprogrammed correctly:
With trailer plugged in does the central screen show a trailer outline when reverse selected.
With trailer plugged in do the reverse alarms sound when reverse selected (they shouldn't!)
With trailer plugged in does the car's rear fog light not illuminate.
There are others, but those are the simplest.

Thanks for the reply. No trailer outline on the screen, reverse alarms very much sound when trying to hook up caravan, just tried the rear foglight one with my trailer and it doesn't light up.

Sounds like some but not all programming has been done.
