Superb Mk4

Featured Replies

Im currently looking at jumping from My Mk3 Octavia 2014 to a new Mk3 Superb.

However, I've seen in several of the automotive press that the "New" Superb will be released this year.

Does anyone have any idea of the release date (when will the pricelist/options/orderbook etc be available).

I'm assuming there will be a big drive to get rid of the old stock close to the release date of the new one, so if I can wait a few months I might be able to find a good deal as the dealers look to free space for the new model.

  • Picked the car up yesterday, pleased with the colour!

  • Probably a gamble to catch the last of the old school buyers. There's not many cars left these days like the Octavia/Superb and especially as a Combi.   Everyone is pushing the SuV rout

I think it is probably a facelift mk3 rather than a new model but I've read that the Center console is updated more like the new VW ID concept with floating tablet style interface.

Do you think that they'll be heavily discounting the current one when they announce its replacement?

Probably discontinue the current model as they usually do. I’ve heard its being called a mk4.

Mk4 may be presented by the end of this year, but probably not sold before beginning of 2024… 🤔

Only personal feeling, no Skodaleaks from any official Skoda employee… 😉

Too little in the way of a “new” design to get me interested TBH, given how the MKIII was such a radical improvement in every way from the MKII; I’ll be sticking with the 280.

I'm not interested in the new one either.

If rumours are true it will use the same infotainment UI as the new golf based on the ID platform.

The reason I started to look at the superb over a new Octavia was the touch sensitive volume slider on the Octavia which is a disaster.

I was hoping new of the new one would drive down the prices of the current model to make way for the new stock.

However, it seems with the chip shortage, stock models are already in short supply.

When I checked last week, Superb was not even available on the German configurator.

Here in Switzerland they are giving large discounts on the high spec models which almost come fully loaded with options.

Only the 200/280ps 4x4 engines are available.

Anyway, last Friday I got bored of waiting & bit the bullet.

I ordered a sportline TDi in Dragonskin.

Hoping for delivery in around 3 months

I read somewhere last week, that the VAG has learnt their lesson and will be steering clear from these touch panels in new models.

BTW - I am not sure if 280PS will be available anymore. I was almost sure that they will keep it (and 320) for Arteon's only but they are dropping Arteon as well.

Also, I am a bit concerned that the pricing will be a bit, ekhm, silly...

I read the same in an article about the new golf, the guy said that the new touchscreen system had "heavily damaged the brand" but in some spyshots from the Nurburgring of the new superb, the pop up screen was clearly visible.

The familiarity of the mk3 Superb with my original Octavia was the reason I wanted the old model (plus 5 years of knowledge on reliability).

For me, the old interface with the Colombus & the driver controls was great perfect as a driver.

Skoda storyboard mentioned month ago the new replacement on article about Enyaq L&K which will be in new Superb and revised Kodiaq

The full press kit info on revised Kodiaq is here, (info on new Superb not yet released), but fair to assume much of the infotainment and controls etc will be same so this will give approx preview of Superb 4 equipment

I was about to sign to swap my 2 year old Sportline 280 for a less powerful L&K but backed out when I read about the mk4. Now I'm concerned that the new variant will be silly money and I'll be priced out of the market. Tempted to see if dealers are offering good deals on the mk3 in the uk although at the moment it appears they know no more than us about the new model, specs price etc

I'm sure the dealers know the new mk4 is on the way & for sure they must have more information than we can find on the internet.

However, I spoke to 3 different garages here & all of them swore blind there was no new Superb until I showed them the details on the Skoda storyboard website & car websites.

Its in their interest to keep quite so not to put off a potential customer who is interested in a mk3 so they don't delay a sale for 6 months.

In Switzerland the official stock is already very low & mainly only the demo cars at the garages.

I was trying to negotiate a special price on a top spec L&K but they wouldn't budge on the official price despite the car staying 10 months in a showroom.

I guess the new one is probably not available in the metal until the beginning of next year until the earliest so too early for good discounts.

A close look at the photos also reveals a new 85kW battery on the Enyaq (see the badge on the boot).

Thanks for that Surrey John. I saw another article in the past couple of days, unfortunately can't remember where off the top of my head, that stated with a lot of conviction that the mk4 specs and prices would be released in November 23 which is in line with the previously announced fall launch. They also suggested prices for the superb range would start at £35k although that's a guess I imagine. I want to change my May 21 280 sportline before its 3rd birthday which is likely to be too soon for the first mk4s to reach the uk. Furthermore I'm right at the top of my budget now and the anticipated price increase will push me way over the top. Didn't want to settle for another mk3 but beginning to look like I've not really got a choice.

@PaulinkeighleyWhats the urgency to change the car, Paul? Are you on a rental?

On my side the car is a keeper so reliability was a big reason for choosing the mk3 over waiting 6 months for the new mk4.

The next few months would be a good time to negotiate as here they already had lots of incentives to keep the superb sales going.

There was an additional 6% discount on the superb and another 8% on the sportline/l&k (high spec models).

At the beginning of next year the dealers should also be clearing the showrooms of the mk3 to make place for the new model so perhaps you could grab a bargain.

@Paulinkeighley I agree the Superb is not a cheap car, range now starts at £31,325 and a 280 Sportline estate is now £46,595 (before adding options)

Can’t say it’s grabbing me. Looks too tall and too boxy for my liking. And only 195kW engine isn’t enough for me either.
