Superb Mk4

Featured Replies

While waiting to book an appointment for my Mk3 by my local dealer, I noticed a small step backward on Superb Mk4 Estate. The small removable LED torch in the boot of Mk3 doesn’t exist on Mk4. 🫤

Strange. A « simply clever » solution that disappears. I find this very useful.

  • Picked the car up yesterday, pleased with the colour!

  • Probably a gamble to catch the last of the old school buyers. There's not many cars left these days like the Octavia/Superb and especially as a Combi.   Everyone is pushing the SuV rout

On Mk4, there is no hole, and hence no cap to fill it.

It hasn’t been even planned.

Looked in the brochures for dimensions but none exist...

Compared to my (now old) Mark II estate, which I really need to replace as even Skoda keep telling me my car is ... old......  Has the rear passenger space, (again in the estate)  been reduced in this model...?

(I'll take me tape down the garage next time...)

Looking at list price ( as against OTR)  and metallic paint, a 1.5 SEL estate with no other options, just squeezes in under 40K..?

Otherwise its an extra £2050 in road tax for the sake of a few quid... 😟

(or have I got that wrong)

i did not have before is travel assist, yesterday i drove trough a city whilst using the accelerator pedal once and brake pedal twice.

I cannot work out the difference between 'travel assist' and 'ACC'

The HUD has integration with android auto, so it does display the waze navigation turn arrow with the distance.

Do waze directions on HUD also work on Apple now ? or still only Apple maps?

Thanks

front looks great but rear just does not compute for me, old one looked better

I agree.

In particular, I don't like the current trend with lettering instead of brand logo. Additionally, I think there's something wrong with the rear lights shape for my taste. Former ones with sharper inner end give a better design with more character...

For your second point, maybe this can be tuned with VCDS?

For the third one, Mk3 already had the nanny alert you're mentioning. Isn't there a way to disable it from the MFSW via a tick box as on Mk3?

I liked your parkinson option. I laughed a lot.

AFAIK the travel assist is the ACC and active lane keeping, automatic brake and and acceleration. The regular ACC  on MK3 could be had with without lane assist or with the basic assist that does not follow the centerline of the road.

I was told no, but no way to confirm that, i dont have a working iphone to test with.

I am hoping someone with updated VCDS cable figures out how to change the parameters and hopefully those three things could be changed. it's still quite new car, so i guess it will take few more months until this happens

With the "MFSW via a tick box" you mean somewhere in the car settings menu? i'll try to search from there, maybe i missed it on the first go.

Sorry, MFSW = Multi Function Steering Wheel. ;)

On the steering wheel menu i can turn off the lane assist altogether, but not only the nanny part of it or any sensitivity. Also checked the  car menu for the same option but could not find anything under the assists menu.

is this for real?

@fraz8888, both of those videos are just fantasy clickbait, no reason to waste time watching them.

I think you're right, since one of the noticeable things in the Mk4's design is that door handles are now along the edge of the car's body line as on pictures below:

I don't think Skoda would make different design on this point, only for the VRS version...

Anyone know if a 2.0 TSi front wheel drive is in the pipeline?

I asked the same question to Skoda Customer Services/Sales today and the answer was effectively  "have a look at another model".  By the time they get their act together, pricing will probably be such as to have increased into the "Luxury" car bracket for annual road tax purposes.

Not sure about the present styling packages, seen the 265PS in the l and k, the orangey leather not too bad, would like another sportline if possible for MK4 if they improve the styling and choices a bit more.

I have just had a look at the new Superb L&K at a local dealer. Most things seem done right, as they should be, given the price, there is even space for full sized spare in the boot if you change wheels to sensible tyre aspect ratio ones.

However, after spending about 5min behind the steering wheel and really trying to convince myself that I would not notice the botched instruments panel (panel shape does not match the dashboard cutout) in everyday use, I gave up and decided that the next time I am looking at the Superb (to replace my 2016 Octavia vRS) is after the facelift of the dashboard. Why, Skoda?

Incidentally, there was a Kodiak next to the Superb with the very same instruments panel but a matching dashboard cutout, and to me it looked very well.

Do you intend to wait for Superb Mk5? 😁

For instance, the dashboard remained the same when the Mk3 has been facelifted... ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

My new MK4 L&K Combi arrived last Wednesday, i did all the paperwork on Friday and today (Saturday) it was shipped off to get PPF and Modesta Ceramic Coating. I only drove it 6km

I have noted so far. I ordered the Variable Boot Floor (VBF). In my MK3 (that I still have for a while), when you lift up the VBF there is another floor covering the spare wheel, giving options to store things out of sight. In the MK4 this second floor covering is NOT there. When you lift the VBF on the MK4, you meet the spare wheel straight away. When I noted this at the garage I raised it as an issue, almost expecting them to confirm it was a mistake and it should have another floor covering the spare wheel, but apparently that's the way its presented.

I looked at a basic Combi without the VBF in the showroom, removed the boot cover on this one and put it into the MK4 and it fitted almost perfectly (except from the two back corners). I was given a price of €130.00 for this Standard boot floor to cover the spare wheel.

I phoned Skoda directly to raise the issue and i am awaiting a response, but I reckon they will tell me I need to buy the standard floor covering.

The Sub-Woofer in on top of the spare wheel now instead of being in the left compartment in the boot. I reckon the sound system is not as good as the MK3 because of this.

Other than that , I will need to wait till I get the car back next week to look at the rest. So far I think its like going from Microsoft Word 2016 to Microsoft Word 2019. A bit more refined. I not mad about the dash layout, but i expect it will frow on me.

This MK4 is my 3rd L&K Combi.

I finally managed to view and test drive an L&K at the local dealer yesterday. Very nice car. The odd shaped driver display didn’t bother me at all, with the seat and steering wheel positions adjusted to my preference the steering wheel perfectly masked out the sticky-out bits without interfering with the displayed data.

I was pleased to find that my iPhone 15 Pro Max complete in its skin case fitted easily into the charging box and charged with no problem.

So, I negotiated a deal and placed an order for a Superb L&K 2.0 TDi 4x4 hatch and added the HUD option, they quoted a 12wk lead time…

Also managed to find a dealer with an L&K demonstrator for a test drive. I had the same thought with the wierd square drivers display. I couldn't see the ugly corners when I was driving as the steering wheel blocked the view of them. The ribbed dashboard isnt to my taste but you cant have everything perfect. On a postive note the cooled seats were very effective in the heat we had on Monday.

Have put in an order for an L&K 2.0 TSI plus HUD. Sadly quoted 21 weeks lead time. So it looks like a christmas present.

Seriously interested in one of those

Did you ho tan?

Did you go for the silver wheels?

interested in NVH and ride quality

Thanks

I went for black interior. I stuck with the default wheels. I've currently got an A4 which had a reputation as a vefry quiet e=interior and I think the Superb was similar. With the DCC Pro it was a smooth ride.

Black interior, default 18” Belatrix anthracite alloys (much nicer looking than silver ones IMHO), Pebble Silver paint for me.

I also ended up setting the steering wheel and seat height in a way that the wheel covers these irritating corners from my vision. Nerves are calm now 🙃
