"Stock" seting after Revo

Featured Replies

Had the Furb' Revo'ed and put it back into "stock" mode using the SPS1, while the car was going for some work.Thing is...............it didn't really feel much different to the "Performance" setting. It is definitely different to how the car was pre-Revo, so I'm wondering if I've actualy got the stock map in the SPS1??I know someone else mentioned that their car felt faster in "Stock" than it used to, so wonder if this is a common thing???

When i got my car remapped we were on the subject of revo and other companies with the switching box.

I think james said to me something like "revo's" stock setting is not the same as before its a different map that they put on that replaces the stock (standard ecu).

So when you change the revo setting back to the revo's stock setting it is different to the setting that was on there before you had it revo'ed.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong!

As i understand it the REVO stock setting is a similar powered file to the original but not your exact original software, the SPS is just a switch no software is stored inside it so they need to make room on your ECU to hold both a performance and a "stock" file.

Hope this helps

So the stock map sould still be classed as a performance map/chip compared to the stock map? If this is the case how many people are driving round with a REVO stock map voided insurance as they haven't told their insurance company?

Other systems that use Milford Microsystems Pockect Power 100, (Amd, Star Performance, DMS) extract the stock map onto the device first. Both stock and performance maps are stored in the black box (unlike REVO as mentioned above) This system insures your stock map is re-flashed.

I find it hard to distinguish between stock and performance too,Im still very impressed with the REVO map though,I have tested a new octavia vrs and Golf gti in the last few weeks and the performance was no better than the Fabia with REVO.I have ordered a G-tech 0-60 tester off e-bay,as soon as it comes I will run some tests

In most cases the REVO "stock" setting is a very similar power to the original map so power would be as expected by the insurance so you might get away with it.

The SPS does not hold maps, thats why you can use any SPS to change from stock to performance settings

In most cases the REVO "stock" setting is a very similar power to the original map so power would be as expected by the insurance so you might get away with it.

But its not the same. Even if its only a slight increase in power anywhere in the rev range then I would think the insurance company could get picky.

The Revo demo is the same, after the demo ends the map you get is revo's version of stock, and the demo code remains present its just disabled.

And why would anyone want to change back to std?? :D

TBH I'm a bit disappointed with this. The whole point of me buying the SPS1 was so that I could change the car back to standard, and when the car went to the dealer for anything, I could change the car back to standard..............this obviously isn't the case!I've e-mailed Revo, so let's see what they have to say eh?Also..............the "Stock" map is so similar to the "Performance" map, that I'd say the main difference betwen the two is the amount of smoke produced!!!!I could have saved cash and not bothered with the SPS1 if I'd known that "Stock" didn't mean standard. I may have even gone for an alternative remap.Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

I could even have got the demo and then had the extra performance afforded by Revo's "Stock" map............FOR NOTHING!!!!

Another thing............why can't I edit my posts and why does it bunch all ofthe text up together, ignoring spaces, line breaks, etc, etc.....?????

I think I'll contact my local rolling road and get some comparisons betwen "Stock" and "Performance".

Revo dont offer Diesel trials. But thats was a good idea ;)

RevoKev is a member on here. If your lucky he may post a reply.

Are REVO able to reflash your car back to the "YOUR" standard map like company's like Superchips etc?

Got nothing against revo so not trying to have a go but how many people could now be driving around with vioded insurance because their ECU has been "chip" remaped whatever you want to call it to something other than the manufactor's spec. So people or have sold their car on, taking the map off before hand, demo trial which have ended or people who only use their remap for off road use only (trackdays sprints etc) and use the SPS device to keep it stock for the raod.

Exactly!

I'd have thought that "Stock" meant "Standard", not "our version of your standard map".

I await Revotechniks reply and comments.

Unless I'm mistaken 'martyrobertsdj' went back to his Revo dealer (always the best thing to do if unhappy or unsure about the product) and everything's sorted now. I can't remember off the top of my head but think it was down to a faulty switch.

Yeah.....sorry I haven't followed up on this thread.

I went back and the revo dealer put the car on the rollers and spent quite some times sorting it.

I'm not 100% sure exactly what was wrong, but it wasn't switching back to stock for some reason.

I still don't feel too much difference between the two, as Stock was producing 152bhp and Performance was 176bhp.........a bit lower than I was expecting, but it was a reasonably warm day, so dyno figures may have been down.

I'm still not convinced that the SPS1 was worth the extra outlay to be honest. I t does switch, but not between 130bhp and 185 bhp like I was (maybe unrealistically) hoping for.

I think I'll run the car as it is for a while and the at some point, get a custom remap done. Can this be done with Revo already present on the ECU????

Performance in "Performance" setting is pretty good and I'm happy with it.....like I say, just the switch that I'm not 100% with. I can always sell it on aBay and someone who is getting Revo'ed can save some money.

Again, nothing against Revo, but this is why I went for the AMD - it uses the black box to copy and paste between the Skoda standard map, and AMD's performance one.

Its also a nice smooth, not all that aggresive map. Lovely.

Oh and just
