Dance radio reception very poor

Featured Replies

Hi

my Dance radio on FM is unlistenable due to reception noise. Some days it’s just about listenable but most it’s cr*p.

The car is 2009, could it be age related, ie connections need cleaning. Looking online removal of the head unit looks straight forward once the plastic trim is removed.

Any thoughts, I enjoy listening to the radio when driving and this is driving me mad!

Possibly water ingress and corrosion between the antenna and the inside connection under the roof headlining.

I'd go with Lee's assumption here - If it's the bee sting type aerial there is a signal amplifier built into the aerial base that can eventually suffer from water ingress meaning the circuit board corrodes.  Replacing the aerial base is usually the only solution (easily done as you can usually access through the rear hatch and drop the back of the headlining enough to get at the base of the aerial and the nut that holds it on.

+1 for the aerial base as a start point. Very common.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I’ve been coming around to the idea that water ingress/ corrosion may be the cause given the age of the car (2009).

I’ll see is I can find some info regarding dropping the Fabia rear headlining.
