Karoq Panoramic Roof leaking

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

Has anyone had issues with a leaking Pan Roof? Mine has just started leaking above the rear near side quarterlight, running down the sidewall and pooling into the little cubby.

I’m assuming it’ll be something like a blocked drain, but have no idea how to get into the rear corner to check (as the roof is obviously fixed!). Any pointers as to where to look?

I’m also on the £29/month all in plan, so might see if the extended warranty might cover this?

You are not the first.

Thanks for this, but it’s definitely related to the drains. Opened roof and poured water from a jug into the front corners and it drained. Did the same about halfway back (so the water ran back) and it drained on the off side but dripped into the boot space on the near side. To my mind that would equate to a blocked drain, just need to know how to get to it!

The cruciform closure is almost designed to catch crap and then block up. Solution is usually to snip 3/4mm off the end and then rod the tube with a flexible cable - garden strimmer wire or a bike inner cable, say. It helps if you have an assistant carefully dribbling water into the sunroof surround.

The other failure I have seen is the tube running down wards losing its connection to the sunroof or the first section of tube.

Someone will be along shortly to show exactly where it is in the underside of the body.

I had this problem. It is indeed the drain pipes from the panoramic roof - here's a pdf showing how I fixed it and where the tubes come out behind the bumper.

Based on @jasongs PDF I had a look at the drains on my 2023 Karoq Sportline today.  Its a June 2023 build date  and it looks as though changes have been made which might prevent the rear drains from getting blocked..

This is the Offside rear drain, as you can see the red plastic cap is not present. I very gently pushed my  drain cleaner rod  up to check. I stopped as soon as I encountered resistance, which I suspect was a joint in the pipe.

This photo has been taken lying under the rear of the car looking towards the offside, the wheel arch liner is visible lower left, I didn't have to remove any part of the wheel  arch or bumper. Very easy to see and check.

The nearside rear though was different. There is a shiny black plastic cover preventing access  to the area where the drain is located. By removing 3 screws at the bottom of the wheel arch liner that held

the liner to the black plastic cover I was able to get my hand in and feel the drain,, it too did not have the red cap and it was clear.

It was much harder to take this photo than actaully check the the drain!

This photo is taken lying under the car looking towards the nearside rear corner, the black plastic cover is visible behind the nearside exhaust outlet  The drain is behind the cover where the yellow sticker is, and the 3 screws to remove are along the edge below the yellow sticker.

I was surprised that the offside didn't have a black plastic cover like the nearside. As I had a towbar fitted in August the bumper would have been removed perhaps that cover didn't get refitted, I will have to check with the company that fitted the towbar.
