My one complaint with my new kodiaq

Featured Replies

The DSG is horrendously laggy (except in sports mode)! What do others think?

@herbywan i think that others might know which Kodiaq / engine you have if you tell them.

What engine?

No such problem with my 1.5 tsi.

I've said it many times... it's unbearable at times and not at all what you want/expect in a mildly warm SUV like the vRS. It does make the vRS a very relaxed GT car though - it's absolutely excellent and feels at home on the autoroutes and roads in France. And to be fair, when in sport mode, it was pretty good fun over the Col du Grand St-Bernard 🙂.

However... never had an issue with my old 1.4TSi, but then I guess I had a whole different expectation of how the DSG should perform in that car, and it matched it perfectly.

You could always try the “ internet “ DSG reset that some say works, and it’s free…..

Turn on the ignition ( do not start engine)

Press accelerator pedal fully down and keep down for 20 seconds

Release pedal and start car as normal.

My Kodiaq had a similar trait when I acquired it with just under 30k on it and after mentioning it to the dealer when in for service, they said they’d check the software status. On collection they’d updated it but it made little difference. Only after the mechatronic failed and was replaced did it improve but 16000 miles later, it’s as bad as ever. Beginning to think that it’s an early sign of impending mechatronics failure!

It is a 150 ps TDI not a 190 or a vRS with a TDI or TSI engine.

It is as they did the engine management to get WLTP / RDE2 results, not to drive like drivers want.

At least putting in S can have it not horrendously laggy if you need to be gettting a shift on...

Doesn't make any difference. It has nothing to do with the engine management (or at least isn't entirely down to that) - drive the Audi equivalent with the same engine and the DSG is a lot more responsive. It's one of the ways in which VAG differentiate between the brands these days, because too many people have been shifting 'down' the chain from Audi > VW > Skoda due to cost etc. and the fact that Skoda is now a respected brand offering very good value (or, at least it was until a couple of years ago - now I'm not so sure).

Makes lots of difference, or just get a 150 PS vehicle the size and weight of a Kodiaq if not towing after all the NSL is 60 mph.

Are people buying the 190 PS or a vRS just for the looks and no improvement in performance? All about the looks!

There are 2.0 TDI SCR 150 PS VW Group cars with 6 speed DSG,s that go as well and are not laggy as there were just as good up the gears as 190 PS TDI,s

The cars were given engine management to get WLTP certification.

Maybe try a pedal box with the 150 PS 2.0 TDI and 7 speed DSG or the 'Audi' setting.

Are you saying that VAG are deliberately making the DSG boxes fitted to VW and Skoda models laggy so as to push people towards the Audi vehicle range?

You say it in an authoritative manner, is that your knowledge or your belief?

Dissatisfaction with one brand is more likely to steer people away from all the group offerings, that is my belief and not confirmed fact.

My 2.0 TDI 150hp DSG feels the same @ normal or ECO as well. However, I don't fancy sport mode due to sudden high revs during downshifting...
