Error 12 V Supply Stop Vehicle Safely! Consult Vehicle Wallet

Featured Replies

I have a 2021 Skoda octavia Vrs and having constant problems with the below error message appearing on the dash

Error 12 V Supply Stop Vehicle Safely! Consult Vehicle Wallet

The message always pops up whilst idling or when stop/start has kicked in usually at traffic lights.

Anyone else ever had this issue?

Not had that issue, but it sounds like either a battery or charging issue - probably best to get the dealer to check it unless you have a multimeter and know how to check correct charging voltage etc.

But as the car is (I assume) still under warranty, beter to go to the dealer.

the car has been into Skoda a number of times. The battery and alternator have been tested and no faults found but still the warning appears. The strange thing is it’s intermittent and always appears when stopped. One days it’s ok then the next the message appears and it doesn’t matter how far of a journey I’ve gone one day I could drive 5 miles then the message appears then the next drive 200 miles before it shows up.

I hate electrical errors, so hard to track down!

I see there are similar posts on some of the VW forums, most come back to either a faulty alternator or battery control module.

Not sure where you're based as you don't have that info on your avatar, but in most countries not only the warranty but consumer laws should provide sufficient cover to get this fixed.

If it was me I'd be kicking up a stick with your dealer as this is not 'fit for purpose', they should probably be looking at swapping the alternator, battery, battery control module etc., until they find the fault. These days with electrical stuff it often seems to check out OK but can still be faulty - intermittent faults are the pits,

Not sure if there is any further info on this topic as I am seeing this in my 2022 Octavia 1.0 mild hybrid

Error: 12 V supply. Stop vehicle safety

Error: 48 V supply. Stop vehicle safety

Error: start/stop system

Error: Drive system. Please visit workshop

It is intermittent. Last time it happened I thought it was due to too quickly cycling the ingition on-off-on. I called recovery (as was in motorway services with whole family) but by the time they arrived all errors were cleared. AA ran their checks and all reported ok.

Recently it happened again after just turning the ignition on once normally when leaving the house. The next time I drove all faults cleared.

Clearly something is up, but unsure of severity. Red triangles and 'Stop Vehicle!' and audible bleeps can't really be ignored.

Out of warranty now but it's a lease car and will go back early next year. Fingers crossed for pickup I guess.
