Well according to skoda I don't have HBA and it can't be retro fitted as needs specific headlights and firmware....

Having looked on kufatec it seems they have some dongles but also internal mirrors and cabling?

What I can't figure out is I have the camera, road signs, auto dimming mirror and some of the other codes they list..what I actually need or whether I should just knock the whole idea in the head!

Anyone actually successfully added HBA to a karoq?

Based on your other threads, you have lane assist. Therefore, the camera is capable of high beam assist, it should just need activating.

 

You don't need anything from Kufatec, you need to find someone local with VCDS or OBDeleven who can check what control modules you have and recode them.

 

In this forum is both a map and a list of members who have VCDS. Based on you mentioning Cornwall, @PetrolDave is probably one of the closest to you...

Thank you...I am confused as skoda have checked our vehicle and insist it can't be done as don't have right headlights capable :(

@smelly What type of headlights do you have fitted? 

I can only imagine Skoda are getting confused between high beam assist and matrix headlights....

 

I've never heard of high beam assist needing a specific headlight, all it does is turn the high/main beam on and off

Erm...have an edition...got cornering option , coming home ... auto on and adjust....just not auto on off high beam

Are you able to post an image of a headlight bulb, taken through the glass - so that the bulb envelope itself is visible?

8Q5 is fine for HBA - my car has the same PR code and I was able to add HBA easily.

 

The problem is that the dealer is either an idiot or more likely doesn't care about retrofitting items. Skoda may even block them from doing so given it's a paid for option.

 

The OP just needs a someone with VCDS...

You should be able to hover/click on his name and then a message option will appear.

Hey Langers2k...

Can I ask...8f you had same build codes, did you just need the hba coding to work - ie we're all cables or whatever they use already looked to the headlights from camera? My dad said I wonder if they fit the vehicles with it but make you pay to activate?

There are no specific wires for HBA.

 

The front camera uses CAN-bus and once coded, will just request the high beams are turned on/off 👍

 

It's about 3 or 4 changes you need to make if I remember correctly. Certainly not a difficult thing to activate and is well understood.
