2024 facelift hopes and dreams

Featured Replies

With the new Kodiaq being unveiled and the new Superb design being released next month, what do we think/hope will be in the new Octavia?

I know it's getting the new much larger centre screen. I hope it gets the new physical knobs for climate/volume/DCC modes etc shown in the Kodiaq. Hopefully it gets the 280bhp 1.5 PHEV that's going into the new Passat.

I'll be due to order a new car at the end of 2024, It'd take some big changes for me to go for another VRS.

I wish a Golf R's engine with 320bhp and 4 wheel drive. A 55 L fuel tank, sturdier seats and quicker infotainment system or system in general.

If you look at UK spec, based on facelifted Kamiq and Scala, whose UK spec and brochures announced few days ago 3rd October.

There are only two options, a convenience pack, and a winter pack, no individual options (except choice of paint colour)

The brochures are linked in relevant Kamiq and Scala sections.

So if that is the new Skoda way of offering cars in UK, then logically can expect same of facelifted Octavia

We are told in Ireland that the vRS 2.0 Tdi is being dropped and the facelift will be petrol or iv only. Am tempted to buy a pre facelift diesel now - wonder if its the same in England or other other markets? The petrol 245 is great but in Ireland the tax makes it 4k dearer than the diesel so unless the co2 falls dramatically with the facelift I cant see the vRS selling many here in the future

That's what I have at the minute. I wanted a PHEV but was told the wait time was incredibly long. It still took 11 months for my car to be delivered lol

In UK just changed specs of the Karoq (which is similar family size), and can now only have a diesel Karoq if getting the 4x4, no more 2wd diesels

Could easily see same happening to Octavia

Although the new Kodiaq has just been launched (and new Superb launches November) don't yet have specs, so could be no 2wd diesels for those too

Don't know about Ireland, but latest SMMT sales data shows just 3.6% of new cars in September in UK were diesels, probably not worth building for just 1 in 28 vehicles.  And If not making right hand drive versions for UK, probably won't bother for much smaller Irish market.

Diesel sales have dropped here but a lot of new Octavia's TDI are still being bought. EV sales are flying it, but depreciation seems to be massive on them. I think you could be right about 4x4 - looking at the new Superb spec they have TDI 150 FWD, and TDI 190 AWD options- I guess the facelift Octavia VRS might get that 190 AWD, but due to taxes here based on CO2 it would be way too expensive - I'd guess €65k

Tax on Irish cars is insane. VRT can do one lol

  • 2 months later...

I see Skoda have started teasing the Octavia facelift on YouTube.
According to this the official unveiling will be in February.

I see that VW has announced some things about the Golf facelift.  I wonder how much of the same we can expect for the Octavia facelift when it is announced next month...?
I've been wondering about EVs but would be sorely tempted by the PHEV if Skoda do an Octavia estate with the same claimed electric range of 62 miles (100km?) as (according to this article) the Golf GTE hatch (and I guess the new Superb estate).

I've seen a couple of articles saying this will be launched on 14 February.

Ah interesting - thanks for that.

Sadly I won't be able to watch it live, but maybe there'll be something to see there later.

50 minutes time,

But likely to put more info up, once presentation done, my guess is likely to be similar to new Superb and Kodiaq, with lounge and loft etc

Some more info from German FB group. Dealers got a memo yesterday stating that the facelift Octavia will be available for order from 22.2. onward. No RS diesel anymore. And the new 265 KM TSI RS will be available for order sometime in the Q2.

I honestly don't like the new lower grille area without the fog lights, the new headlights are neat though.

It looks like they realized the shiny door handles were annoying as hell with low sun glaring and made them matte

Also the new infotainment system seems better, the fact you can add shortcuts to the persistent bar on the bottom is pretty useful.

And here we go !

They need to put a proper exhaust on the vRS and bin the stupid speaker!

Sorry for that, it's just really REALLY annoying.

nice to see the power bump, also like the look of the new Vrs front grille and bumper set up, nicer than the non vrs one in my opinion

would have loved to see physical air con controls back but probably too much engineering for a facelift

I really want DCC next order I put in, but that 40k price barrier may be more difficult to get under even with just a couple of big options

and I bet we get crappier seats with no adjustable thigh support

aslo..whats with the no fog lights?   is it a cost saving or are modern headlights doing away with the need for them?

Edited by Gingernick70

Apparently the new headlights are "all weather", maybe they change and work a specific way when you turn on the front fogs, and i agree the VRS definitely looks better than the regular model, the regular model's lower grill has too much black plastic and the lack of fog lights make all that black plastic weird and too big.

pricing will be interesting  golf gti starts just under 40 grand

so as soon as you add on options...just an upgraded infotainment system or DCC you are already over the 40k tax threshold?

so DSG is standard now so thats probably 1400 quid straight onto the old RRP

electric seat package and DCC is probably going to take you above 40k I reckon

Yep. Tidy enough. The headlight shape is rather awkward though. Jutting into the bumper.
