What is this oil leaking?

Featured Replies

When I was doing my oil change today, I noticed some oil leaking sign under the car next to oil Sump (I am just guessing it is from gearbox). Why this oil leaking! Can it be damaged itself..i haven't hit under the car as far as I can remember. Since few days when i do reverse gear I hear a clicking noise as well. Can someone expert tell me what could be possible problem.

Point to be nored, I didn't see any oil dripping once I wiped this oil off though.

That is the DQ200 Mechatronic unit weeping. We did a 2011 Octavia last week where the accumulator did it’s usually part trick but slowly instead of the traditional BANG and slowly lost all its fluid (the mech holds exactly 1 litre) and the car came to a halt.

What course of action should I take to stop the severe consequences?

Check the top of this metal sump, there is a breather, check if any oil is leaking from it.

if so I would assume as said above it is the usual dq200 mechatronic housing cracking, luckily there are repair kits to save purchasing an entire mech unit!

I think it leakis from the top as well. where can i find the repair kit or what does it called?

N.B: does it automatically leak or I did something which causing the housing to be cracked. I am still buffled.

The metal is too thin in that area and the high pressure inside forces the metal to stress and crack.

Its called a dq200 accumulator repair kit.

We tried the repair kit, it lasted a few days, now we only fit genuine mechs, approx 2 a month.

Is it!  wow, I am in big problem I can feel. I had been to few garages in my neighbourhood already, they are reffering me to DSG specialist..I am in big problem i can guess and will cost a lot of money. This is very unacceptable. my car is only 107k and 6 years old.. I was very big fan of Skoda...I couldn't even think of this problem is on my way with this so called reliable car..

DOes the DSG BOX NEED TO BE TAKEN DOWN TO DO THE REPAIR JOB OR i SHOULD START LOOKING FOR A SECOND HAND DQ200 from Breakyard.

Please advise me someone with similar problem. Thank you.

Maybe you can contact this OP for info

It isn’t a Skoda problem, it is a VAG wide Schaeffler group  problem brought on by weight saving machining around the mounting which is just too thin but hey, the CO2 reduction of the weight saving is “saving the planet” 🙄

Can the issue be mitigated against and prevented, or is it just an inevitability people just have to accept as a risk associated with owning a car with that gearbox?

I can't think of a simple way.

My problem is sorted by resealing the mechatronic. I guess admin can  mark this thread as solved.
