Idiot Drivers

Featured Replies

What is it with people in this country.

I'm stopped at a set of lights and a car pulls up behind me and waits, another car pulls up behind him and also waits. Within 5 seconds of the lights going green the two cars behind me are honking and swearing at each other.

Now bearing in mind they are right up my *** they then start swerving at each other flashing their lights and generally driving like idiots. They got so close as they are playing with each other that I pretty much felt like i was left with no choice, dropped a couple of cogs and floored it to get a good amount of distance betwen myself and them.

Obviously i slowed back down as soon as i got a good gap, but why are there so many f**king idiots. There stupid driving made me drive like a bit of an *** to get some distance rather than just getting up into high gears and accelerating at a normal safe pace.

Grrrrrrrr Rant over.... and breath!

There are plenty of idiots on the road. What should have done is slowed down. The highway code states that if someone is too close behind then you should increase the gap in front of you so that your not shunted into someone else when they fail to brake. Obviously dont slam on your brakes just take the foot off the gas. He he decides to swing round you then so be it.

I had a good clear 1/4 of a mile infront of me already and bearing in mind the ******* almost hit me before i floored it and i almost got killed on the exact same road last time two idiots did the same thing on the same piece of road, there was no way i was doing that again. The last time they ignored the fact I was there, and broke my car and pretty badly shagged my back for the best part of a year.

The blokes were only about a foot off my rear bumper, so i couldn't slow any more as they were not looking forward and so didn't even notice i was there.

The highway code can say what it likes, but i'm not having another accident that almost kills me due to two w*nkers racing each other and not looking. I normally drive very safely I am told by others, however this is one time when i wished i drove a challenger II!

Must be the weather. Last night I saw one car not so much jumping a red light as just driving straight through it and also a pair of cars "racing" where one car thought it would be funny to jump a red light and turn right at a crossroads.

It's been easily a year since I last saw someone ignore a light and then it happens twice in one night on a stretch of road I use v. v. frequently. Muppets.

IMO you did the right thing. If im ever in the same situation (which unfortunately i have been) i floor it to get some distance between them and me. The worst part is that knowing my luck if id stayed at the limit and they would have hit me i could have bet that would have had no insurance.

That would have left me well out of pocket and the little shinners still up their tricks

Yeah the reason i am so edgy is last time it happened I was almost rolled, and if i had not kept it on 2 wheels then back on 4 i would have been upside down on an electrified railway line!

The damage to the car was:

- Physically broken side imact in my door.

- Shagged sill, wing and door and B Pillar.

- Cracked floorpan.

- Drivers seat had moved sideways slightly (with me in it!!!).

- Broken steering.

- Broken suspension.

I ended up with months of physio and had the trouble of getting to work without a car. I was on silly amounts of pain killers and got sent home from work when i tried to go back too early and hit the deck (Damn them pain killers) I then had to buy a car, and no point buying another old car, I didn't feel safe in them any more. For that reason i bought a newer car but that left me out of pocket earlier than needed. Add to that that I am a bit more tetchy on the road where i never was before :( My back still gives me grief and this is one of the very reasons I want less cameras and far more traffic police.

Is it just my imagination or do more people now run/jump red lights than they used to?

It's not as bad as it was in Ireland -that was frightening-, but there are a lot of people who seem to carry on upto the point at which the other traffic has the 'green light'.

forgot about that, I see that all the time too. If I'm setting off on a green light, I always check left and right, just in case.

cheezemonkhai, that's one helluva story. Just goes to show that even if you're driving along minding your own business taking every reasonable precaution, some nob can come along and ruin everything.

There are too many knobs on road today :(

The reason i'm so tetchy is that that road seems to attract every idiot within a 10 mile radius.

If that's the case, is it worth finding an alternative route? :D

It's unfortuanately the only sensible one out of town. The other involves 50% the same route then queueing for about 25 minutes while the road in question gets priority at the lights.

Sat at a red recently already stopped, two cars draw up behind, pause, screech of tyres and the second one is now pulling out and going straight through the junction, overtaking using the right filter lane..........which was also on red! Luckily just a quiet Sunday morning but still had to pinch myself I hadn't dreamt it!

if you want some red light beeping.....come to dublin.....the smallet moment in time recorded in the world is when a light changes to green and the horns start!!!

k:)

In Leicester it doesn't matter how late you pass a light, at least 3 cars will follow you every time without fail

From what I remember' date=' despite a lot of drivers running red lights, a lot of drivers were [b']very[/b] slow to get moving once the lights had gone to green!

I encountered a muppet this morning on the way to a car boot sale.

Turned left into the side road and the car in front (a T reg A3 1.8 driven by a woman in her late 30s with bleached blonde hair and lots of gold jewelery , oh and a big black poodley dog in the back) stops almost immediately indicating to turn into the exit of the field.

Now this is clearly signposted no entry and there are a stream of cars coming out but she doesn't think this should bother her and stays there.

I beep the horn and point at the sign as I can see the queue behind me is now back onto the island of a fairly major road.

She ignores me and keeps sitting there so I beep again and try waving her on but she ignores me.

The cars behind start beeping as well and eventually she zooms off sticking her fingers up at me.

She is going so fast that she nearly misses the turn for the correct entrance and has to do a 3 point turn to get in.

Obviously I'm sat there laughing at her and she leans out of the window and screeches "don't you f****** start or I'll rip your f****** head off" to the amusement of everyone around.

"which part of No Entry was too hard to read you clueless cow" was my reply and once again she wheelspun off , bouncing across the dirt track on the field.

I watched her go , but 20 minutes later I saw her walking around the boot sale so I couldn't resist winding her up a bit more so I mentioned "No entry" as I walked past and once again she completely went off on one screaming , shouting and spitting as I walked away.

Time for some anger management classes I think.

Its not only the genral public that are idiots. I nearly didn't make it to work tonight due to F***ing carzy police cars. Lights flashing, driving on the wrong side of the road over the brow of the hill on the Bingley road going from Menston towards **** Hudsons.

I'd like to make a complaint to someone but I havn't got the fogiest idea where to start.

Any suggestions?

F**k Me, i borrowed a friends car when i was up there with SWMBO visiting them.

That was only a little arosa, but was still a damn tight squeeze. I'm amazed anyone whould hammer around there :S

Doesn't one of the roads around there have like 300 speed cameras in a 100yard section of road.

Maybe he was just pegging it to get to **** Hudsons, I mean it is a nice pub and the views are great.

if you wanna see some spectacular tailgaiting i recommend a trip down the autostrada that runs across the top of milan in italy. just come back from hols there and it was so bad it was almost impressive! thing is no-one seems to get wound up by it, just seems to be standard practice. by the way the stelvio pass is awesome, highly recommended.
