So many faults...

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I bought my 2019 Octavia SE-L 2.0 TDI DSG Hatch with digital cockpit, 50k miles in Jan 2023 from a main dealer in Lincoln.

I do about 20k miles a year - it's now on 78k. In this past year it's had:

- Failed BCM (replaced under warranty)

- Failed boot sensor/catch (replaced under warranty)

- Failed water pump (replaced under warranty)

- DPF needed regenerating despite driving good miles above 65mpg daily

All of these have been separate garage trips, train journeys to borrow a family car etc, time off self employed music teaching.

TODAY (the day after collection from the DPF faff) the engine management warning light glows amber AGAIN.

Local main dealer in Crewe has booked it in... they keep repairing under warranty. I've emailed the branch I bought it from and queried the quality, all my other Skodas have been nowhere near this problematic.

No response.

Does this seem normal for a car of this age?! Should I get rid? What would you do!!

I'd probably say not a lot of faults within my short experience of owning a similar aged Octavia.

I also own an 2019 plate Octavia 1.5tsi act se dsg.

Bought it 17 months ago with 22k on the clock, now covered 32k.

Within 10,000 miles covered it's had, two sets of plugs, due to a year of lumpy cold running. Numerous visits to the the main dealer and ecu light illuminatons, called out AA once, too.

Replaced the rear wiper motor, that failed shortly after I'd bought it, again another visit to the dealer under extended warranty.

Rear boot switch failure, extended warranty job.

Boot leak, just sorted it. Took me 3 hours to resolve using a hosepipe to locate the leak, then stripping half the back of my car out to get to it. Thought my days of messing around with cars was over.

I also replaced the rear discs and pads myself at 28k, as the factory set were shot.

I've not totally given up on vag, yet.

This is my first Skoda.

Just put a deposit down on an 3 year old Scala 1.0tsi se dsg, pick it up next week.

Hopefully I'll have better luck with this one.

I feel your pain.

Regarding my above post, as I can't edit it now. I also replaced my EFB car battery this year, too. Not under warranty.

This seems excessive to me especially given the age.

I have a 2014 TDi vRS, it's done 230k km in the last 10 years.

I've had 2 issues, one was a build/part issue at almost new (boost pressure sensor replaced).

The other was the common water pump problem which Skoda paid 60% of even or of warranty at 100k km.

Otherwise is been great following only the standard maintenance schedule.

I would be asking your dealer for another year extended warranty until they can fix all the issues or some kind of good will payment because of the problems, e.g. Free servicing
