Mechatronic replacement - parts shortages!

Featured Replies

Hi - sorry I'm new here.  I have owned my Kodiaq 2.0 diesel DSG 4x4  Mk1 from new (Jan 18) and it has been faultless... till now.  I have always used VAG approved garages for servicing and everything has been done on time.

The mechatronic unit on my DSG gearbox failed last week and Skoda have been completely unable to provide me with a timeline for repair because of a shortage of parts.  It would appear that there are no replacement parts in the UK.   I have searched the internet for some understanding of where the blockages might be because my local service desk merely offer "computer says no", but have found nothing.  Skoda Customer Services are equally pants - it seems they are based in South Africa and have very limited sight of things.   Any thoughts or guidance on possible solutions would be much appreciated.   My car has been off the road now for 10 days and we are about to hit Xmas meaning I can't see it being resolved till late January at best... There must be an alternative solution?

It's called a "hire car".

It seems VAG are having issues with their mechatronics, there is always the odd complaint of a failure here and there, but in recent months there have been lots, far more than normal.

Something isn’t right and Skoda know it. Their supplier probably can’t build them fast enough.

If I were in your position, I'd be looking at a 3rd party solution.

DSG gearbox specialists may be able to source units or depending on the failure, may be able to repair your current unit.
