12V battery

Featured Replies

Has anyone had a 12v battery changed under warranty? Mine tolerated the cold very well, but now there is a problem with starting, I feel that there is a problem, and the START/STOP system stops working. When measuring the battery life with a special battery tester, it shows that the battery needs to be changed.

Hi, not a Skoda but same group, I had a Leon and was having problems starting and as you say Start/Stop feature was acting up,

so went to dealer and they found the wrong battery had been fitted (it was still a stop/start battery) but just wrong capacity, so they changed under warranty and presume they coded it.

And never had a problem after

For a couple of days the air temperature was below -20⁰, in the morning there was no problem with starting even at -26⁰. Now the temperature has rapidly risen to 0⁰. There have been a few cold engine starts, suspiciously slow on the verge of trouble.

Mine was changed, under warranty, just before the initial 3 years was up.

It failed a test when in for service and was replaced no quibble.

How much driving between starts, and have you used the auxiliary heater for preheating? The auxiliary heater (or the interior fan to be precise) consumes a lot of juice that needs to be replenished by driving for a significant amount of time.

Start/stop is working exactly as it should by the sound of it. When the battery charge goes below a certain point start/stop is disabled.

There are both shorter 20km and longer 80km races. Preheaters are not installed.
