ACC on facelift VRS

Featured Replies

Hi. I owned an O3 diesel VRS Estate in 2014/17 and now looking to come back. Looking at a 2016-2020 Petrol estate. I’m trying to understand if the car has the front radar in the grille it automatically has ACC. There are loads on Autotrader with the square block in the grille but ACC not listed. Was it standard or option?

thanks.

Hello, depending on the trim level, ACC is often an optional extra. The radar block in the front grill is for the collision avoidance 'front assist' braking system - ACC uses a different model of camera behind the rear-view mirror. The easiest way to identify if vehicle has ACC is to check the control stalk, as the normal cruise (usually standard) stalk is different.

You sure about that?

I've owned two Octavia Mk3's both with ACC - one with the lowline 20 camera and one with the 5F highline camera.

That is my understanding - I recall some discussions a few years back regarding upgrading standard cruise to ACC, as I was interested in doing it.

You can’t tell just by looking at the exterior of a facelift if it has ACC or the collision avoidance.  My 2017 facelift vRS doesn’t have either.

Sorry but thats all wrong and confusing :D

The front assist radar behind the grill is used for adaptive cruise control and front assist. The same part is used for whether it has one or the other or both and its controlled through coding and SWaP codes. ACC doesnt use a camera.

The camera in the windscreen is used for lane assist, high beam assist, traffic sign recognition and pedestrian detection. The windscreen camera comes in two levels a low line which is just in the rear view mirror and this ONLY does high beam assist, or the high line in the top of the windscreen which does all the features.

A car can have one without the other.

Thanks all. That at least tells me it’s not standard.
It’s not a deal breaker if not standard.
