Spare wheel size for Skoda Fabia Estate 2016 1.2 TSI ?

Recommended Posts

Hello.
My car Skoda Fabia Estate 2016  does not have spare wheel, only the repair kit.
I would like to buy spare wheel.
is this the correct wheel?
https://www.thewheelshop.co.uk/product/skoda-fabia-1998-present-day-16-space-saver-spare-wheel-tool-kit/

My tyres on the car are: 16" 215/45
it has 5 studs, so I assume it is like in the wheel description above 100mm stud diameter?

Is this the correct wheel to have as spare?
Thank you.

You could get that, note the "PLEASE NOTE: Images are for illustration purpose only and actual products may vary from those illustrated  - Universal lifting jack and wheel brace"

100 x 5 is correct AFAIK with stupid bolts instead of studs so to save your back you are also best to add to your tool kit a couple of these 'Wheel Fitting Removal Alignment Tool For VW Audi M14x1.5 Bolt Studs'. -

I might well be wrong but I have a feeling the Skoda spare wheel and kit are with 180/55r15(?) but If you wait @Carlstonwill be along with full Skoda details.

If you had 15" or 14" wheels and not on such rubber band size 215/45 tyres you might have less need for a spare wheel but then I'm used to 70 being low profile tyres.  🙂

It's a low quality, universal Chinese kit.

You would do much better purchasing the genuine Skoda kit, and it's not expensive.

The kit includes everything except for the actual spare wheel.

Any VAG parts department can order this in if you give them the OEM part number, ie. 6V0093860A

Foam and jack kit for Fabia MK3 6V0093860A (1109CZK is about £38.32)

The Alcar 7760 is the correct 15" steel rim for the Fabia MK3, but it's out of stock at mytyres and autodoc. The Alcar 8380 is the same specification as the Alcar 7760 and is in stock.

Do not I need 16" when all my wheels are 16" ?

No, you would only need a 16" steel spare wheel if you had bigger ie upgraded the front brakes, 15", as already said is what VW Group supply when they provide a spare wheel as standard.

Lower powered Fabias ie ones with 256 or roughly that size of front discs, would get supplied with a 14" steel spare wheel.

The rolling circumference of any these wheels when fitted with the "correct for that car" tyre, will be roughly the same.

Edit:- obviously other aspects of the wheels need to be correct when fitting 15" wheels and same if able to fit 14" steel spares - ie rim width and offset.

185/60R15 on a 6Jx15 ET38 5/100 57.1 rim is the standard spare wheel size for the 215/45R16 tyres.

However, one non-standard 16" option could be the following.

Hankook Kinergy Eco 2 K435 195/50R16 84H

https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rshop/tyre/Hankook/Kinergy-Eco-2-K435/195-50-R16-84H-4PR-SBL/R-407562

Alcar 6977 6Jx16 ET40 5/100 57.1 steel rim (from Kamiq/Scala)

https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rims/details?vehicleId=1087670987056497764&rimCode=ALCAR6977

As you can see in the chart below, this 16" option is 6mm wider than the 15" option, not 10mm which you might expect from a simple 195-185=10 calculation. This is because the actual inflated width of a tyre always depends on the rim width to which it is fitted.

Actual inflated width of tyre (measured from outside of sidewall to outside of sidewall)

185/60R15 fitted to 6J rim 195mm

195/50R16 fitted to 6J rim 201mm

215/45R16 fitted to 7J rim 213mm

As you can see in the chart below, the outside diameter of all three of these tyre sizes is virtually identical.

Outside diameter of tyre

185/60R15 603mm (+0.5% compared to 215/45R16)

195/50R16 601.4mm (+0.3% compared to 215/45R16)

215/45R16 599.9mm

Hi, I sold my 2016 Monte estate this week and put my spare up for sale on eBay. A bit far from Hull and posting probably prohibitively expensive but if you every find your way down towards Hertfordshire you are welcome to collect, happy to sell a bit cheaper than I have it listed for. I also have the genuine heavy duty boot liner and the netting system if you are interested in them.
