I have also set up the 5 days driveaway insurance with Skoda and registered for the Skoda Connect and downloaded the apps and linked the car, there seems to be two apps MySkoda Essentials and MySkoda, I just installed both and signed in them. not sure maybe only need one?

I am going to look at the skoda app and Insurance.
Personally I am not a fan of sharing my data with all and sundry through the car. Not sure who has access to what these days.

The Dealership asked me to set it up as you get a year free then have to pay for services he said, i will give it a go and if dont like will just uninstall, guess its handy to see if anyone has stolen your car as you would be alerted. I guess its like a tracker.

I guess the car has a sim card which pings out your location. I’m pretty sure the data is available to other parties including your insurance company who can monitor your driving, speed and where you have been. Very 1984, our freedom is a thing of the past.

I had the call this morning to say my Scala is at the Dealer. I am having to wait until 27th May to pick it up as I can't get a day off before end of next week. I could have had next week if I was able to get away from the salt mine. I am going to the dealers tomorrow to sign the paperwork, as I can't do it online, as I have the old style paper driving licence. But the dealer is only about 15 mins from home, so no hardship. I am going to get the 5 days insurance, as it is 5 days less I have to pay on mine, but I still wonder how much they will put it up when I change it?

Mine only had to come 6 miles form the dock to the dealer, so I suppose it was quicker to fit it onto a truck. I probably will take a peak at it tomorrow.

That’s great news.

Could you not ask the dealer if they will deliver your car to your work place if near by.

I have changed the date, I am going to pick it up on 23rd, after work.

I have taken the 5 days Insurance and swapped the car on my insurance policy, and I am going to get a £50 reduction in this years premiums!

I will continue with the MySkoda app, as I find it useful.

It certainly makes sense to take advantage of 5 days free insurance. I am hoping for a reduction in insurance as well.

I went through my order yesterday with the dealer and signed the PCP paperwork. They also adjusted my deposit to allow for the £400 back against the deletion of the virtual pedal, did anyone else get this allowance?

Hopefully the car turns up next week.

Well I picked it up this afternoon, and the first thing I noticed is how much quieter it is in the cabin when driving. But one big niggle I have found already is when using android auto to listen to Audible, when the Nav gives instructions it now pauses Audible until it is finished. My old Scala 70 plate would just super impose the voice directions over what ever was being played, Audible or Spotify. But if you are listening to the radio instead of android auto, it works just how it used to. It has me wondering if it is due to the newer version of smartlink+ that it comes with now? I will have to investigate further but I might just have to put the verbal instructions to mute like I used to do on google maps.

I will have to give it a few days before I get everything set up to the way it was. Then I will give a better write up of my thoughts.

Congratulations on picking up your new Scala.

Coming from a 14 year old Superb I am going to have quite a bit of catching up to do with the technical stuff.

Going to miss the Superb Combi, it's an outstanding car and built like a tank.

Finally picking mine up Tomorrow afternoon, so I hope all the bings and bongs don’t drive me too crazy driving home.

Congrats guys,

Mine was actually ready to pick up last Friday but I put it back as I was driving  to Scotland for a week so didn't want to put over 1000 miles on it with the pcp in one week.

Also wanted to take my diesel for the extra power, torque and economy, I am going to miss it.

Driving back in the morning 400 miles

After a 3 hour nightmare journey on the M25/M11 we finally picked up our new Scala Monte Carlo this afternoon.
The dealership at Harlow have been brilliant and really gone the extra mile to make sure our car was ready for handover in 2 days.

The tech and multitude of menus is a bit mind boggling, so need to take the time to scroll through and figure out what is useful and what is not. IMG_4036.thumb.jpeg.62669de03ff560fa233059b436be06a0.jpeg

I was told the same thing but worked out that you can have the winter pack with the charging pack. You have to forgo the heated steering wheel and screen but you get heated seats and washer jets. I wanted the premium pack but accepted this compromise as it is so much easier to power a dashcam. Incidentally no one at ŠKODA uk cust service or ŠKODA cz cust ser or the dealer suggested this but my dealer was allow

ed to order the car like this.
I know that’s not much help now but it might help a future buyer

I did also work this out after many emails to the dealership, by then it was too late. However, now I have the car I am actually happy with the set up. The extra tray space without the charger is useful and the purchase of a small cable for a couple of pounds solves the charging problem. I haven’t had a need to use the heated screen and wheel yet, but blink and it will be Winter again. It’s a pity the USB cable by the mirror is missing for easy dash cam set up though.

Looking at other specs offered in markets in the EU and beyond it is strange how Skoda decide who gets what and why.

I would have loved the opportunity to get the upgraded Stereo Package offered in the EU. Also, Skoda decided to delete the Virtual Pedal from UK spec cars, for which I received a refund.

I agree. I looked at many reviews on YouTube and found most had both the premium winter pack and the charging pack fitted so it can definitely be done,  I had a Fabia Monte Carlo before ordering a Scala and had the premium winter pack and the USB-C by the mirror.  I will miss the heated steering wheel but had to compromise. I settled on a Monte Carlo 1 litre DSG with Winter pack, Charging Pack, Convenience Plus Pack, spare wheel and Variable Boot Floor, in Moon White Metallic,  Car is due to be built week 34 so should be here in early September. My Fabia was a 1.5 and went very well but I tried the latest 1 litre 116 ps aand found the performance to be more than enough for my needs with the bonus that it was rated as 15 ins grp rather than 20 for the 1.5 so should help to get a better Ins quote when the time comes.
