Front door rain on lower door seal (Cill area)

Featured Replies

I've read a thread in the past on re sealing the inside of the drivers and passengers door bottom but can't seem to find it again, can anyone point me in the right direction please

Before you take door cards off to re-seal the panel try looking at the bottom of the doors there are 2 slight bump like gaps that allow water out from the door, if these are blocked this can cause this problem, they usually block up with dirt rust etc and you can free them out with a small piece of stiff wire and then a squirt of wd strawspray into the holes/slit

@Murdockman thanks

I have checked and the drains are clear, after rain when I open the door and there's a puddle on my cill / seal the water runs then out of the drains

It's not crucial Crucian, but it's sill, as in window sill,  inner sill etc.

I keep getting directed to "search" the fabia mk2 forum where the solution will be found but still unable to find the thread that had photos etc

Looks like I've found the issue, leaking down from the speaker, removed ad sealed with Dum Dum (The genuine rocky horse poo, been stored in my shed for 20 years) all drains clear, need some rain to check (shouldn't have to wait very long 😀) err being rained on as we speak (well it is the summer)

How is the water getting into the speaker, that is the issue. Unless you have been playing a lot of "November Rain".

I believe the doors are supposed to "run" the rainwater inside the door to the drain holes at the bottom, (I stand to be corrected)

TBH we could title a song "12 months rain" in the uk

My doors are dry inside. That is the purpose of the rubber window seals, to stop the rain from entering the doors.

Au contraire, the seals reduce the amount of water entering the door but cannot keep it all out so it runs down the the sloping side impact beam and out of the drain hole onto the sill.

it rains in between the glass and door. some glue and a strip behind the speaker on the top side to water proof it

yes, but we are talking very little here. if it is pi$$ing down inside the door then you need new window seals.

There have been Fabia that since new have the water come out of the bottom of doors.  Or water gather for ages because the passenger door does not get used.  There used to be Serviced Advice on regularly clearing the drain holes.    Those that do not get water going in the doors might be more unusual than those that do.     The new cars had new window seals.

Evening mate, So sorry I had to create an account on here but I couldn’t private message you as I needed 20 content items so I hope it’s ok to comment on here or if it allows you to private message me?

So I passed my test recently and bought a Škoda fabia mk2 1.6 2010 with only 30k miles, such a nippy car but while I was in work yesterday I noticed a pooling of water past the seals in the rear well. With the help of this great guy on here Pete I was able to identify it was coming from the door card and has been a issue since the MK1.

I was just wondering did sealing the speaker fix it? If so I’m going to tackle it in a few days, which kind of sealent did you use and is the speakers riveted or screwed? I’m a complete novice at DIY so hoping I don’t have to drill out the rivets if that’s the case 😂 thanks for letting me peck your head hopefully you get back to me

Legend thank you. Was the speaker held on by rivets that I need to drill out or just screws.

If it’s not to much to ask is there anyway I can contact you directly? Just for abit if guidance , understand if not

Rivets drilled out, anti corrosion paint applied and appropriate self tappers used. You can private message via this forum. There's no further info I can give
