Trip is open - Apartment is booked. All you two need to do is book the ferry as per the post 1 in this thread (I think) and once booked' date=' get your name on the confirmed list. Then get some currency changed into Koruna (or whatever).

Oh, and Will's gonna be busy Saturday night. Men only ;):D[/quote']

Oh and umm in regards to your last bit ... Will's not going :P

Edit: I'm booked on 04.30 ferry now as P&O have whacked up the price of the 05.30 crossing. :)

Looks like we are now up to 8 confirmed people in 5 cars!. We have only 2 spaces left in the apartments (although we can take a further 3 more at a squeeze!).

Just to confirm costs, Apartment should be between £80-£110 per person (depending on final numbers, oh and I am sorting this out!), ferry crossing between £60-£85 depending on what crossing you decide to take (most are on the 5:30am crossing which I believe is getting more expensive due to heavy demand!). Allow a total of £80 for road tolls and obviously fuel costs!.

Just for interest, those with Google Earth can find the Skoda Museum at Mlada Boleslav at coordinates 50 25 & 14 55 and the airfield at Mimori at coordinates 50 37 & 14 44.

Don't forget your Passports too!!

Check up on your breakdown cover to make sure you are covered abroad and ensure your insurance company is happy for you to go abroad with your car.

I have a photocard license

L.V has incorporated cover of 6 months EU driving, which is nice. :)

My EHIC is on the way, whatever it is.:D

Think I have my passport. ;) Certain it's in date.

Have a spare bulb pack. Gonna nick a warning triangle from someone.

Notes made about driving rules in CZ too.

I don't know if it has already been mentioned but if you have got a driving license that doesn't have a Photo on it then you must ensure you get an International Driving Permit (IDP)

http://www.theaa.com/getaway/idp/index.html

:)

Thanks fot that - looks like I need to get one for CZ - been driving there for many years and just had a plain paper license - luckily I have never been stoped in CZ just in France and Germany. In Germany I was escorted for a full vehicle check in a Police pound,

As a matter of Interest my son was stopped 6 times last week returning to the UK from CZ by Police in Germany and Belgium (marked and un marked cars) - he was also stopped at calais port by customs but they did not search his car again as he mentioned he was stopped so many times. Wether it ws due to the World Cup or that he was travelling alone I dont Know - but beware of speed and whats in your car and that you have all vehicle documents i.e V5 and Insurance and Licence available.

There are no tolls on the route to CZ via france, Holland, Belgium and Germany unless you get lost

:woohoo: didn't realise that, just assumed we would be on toll roads. More cash for beer then

The only "toll" is the one to use motorways in CZ - no idea how much a 14 day one is, the minimum length one you can buy. I've already reserved oc-quattro's pass for me, but I'll spread the saving among the group. ;) Might be a few pints of Staropramen on my tab, wherever we go out on the lash on Friday night (I hope?? :dtp: ;))

an EH what?? lol! just googled it....do you need one then? or is it just advisable to have one? have found an 'apply now' button?.... help! lol

Loz ... the EHIC is an insurance card, you need it in case you become ill or are injured whilst travelling abroad as it means you can be treated wherever you are. You should get one; it's quite important. It only takes a few days to come through the post - Wills just got his, I've had mine for ages!

Its a sticker that must be affixed in the the windscreen a 14day one is 200kc IIRC about £5. Its start date is marked on purcase and when fixed to winscreen is not removable without damaging it - the car registration must be written on the sticker and counterfoil. Its not transferrable between cars

You want to be drinking Budvar while in Czech...

It is very good beer' date=' and it is only about 43p a litre!!!!

DRINK UP[/quote']

Beer normally sold in 1/2 litres in shops and bars - if bottles are bought in shops there is a deposit of about 3kc on each bottle extra - in my travels I find it about 18 -25 Kc for 500ml thats 1/2 litre - not seen it as cheap as 43p for a litre. Expect to pay higher prices in Prague

For £5 I'll just get one on the border then, especially if their non-transferrable. Means I won't be able to use oc-quattros. £5 is fair enough though.

What sort of currency would you reckon I should take in cash? £100 worth of Cz? £150? Will just be a bit of fuel maybe, tour and meal/drinks in Prague. Last thing I also want is VISA hammering my account if I use it over there.

Well I took £150 and managed to spend all of it in 2 days and 1 night. Purely on booze and food, oh and another source of evening entertainment ahem, for the gentlemen.
