40k service

Featured Replies

my little red vrs is going in for its 40k service on monday and to have the flakey paint on the front bumper looked at (will let any other sufferers know the outcome of that).

its 315 quid for the service...for that i would expect it to come out washed at least but i doubt it...i dont understand how skoda can make a car that is affordable and cheap, when such an extortionate fee is charged to change a few things and fill whatever up, it bloody annoys me, oh well the warranty runs out this year so i wont bother with the official service after that, by the way its the skoda dealer in bedford incase anyone was wondering

ITs a full service the 40k

2 hours labour or there abouts.

Skoda do sell an affordable car, but Skoda dont service them. That is left to the dealer network. They get next to no money out of Skoda for selling thier cars so have to make a buisness on aftersales.

I get paid pretty much the same if i work on VW, Skoda, Vauxhall or whatever, so stands to reason the labour rate is going to be pretty much the same in any given area.

Have you tried ringing other dealers to ask what they charge for a 40K service?

Mine is in for it's 40k service today.... I haven't asked for a price, but I'll post on here later what they charge me, and what the service was like.... they have been pretty good to me so far (bickerton Sheffield) so hopefully it will all go well... I'll post the results up later.... (note: they were cheaper than my local specialist for the previous minor service...)

I'd ring around if i was you, my 20k just cost me 165 but i was quoted 255 at another dealers!

ok... service finished at Skoda... total price £254........ so you seem to have been charged £60 more than me ........

I understand your defence Ross but £315 is 'Rip Off' territory. I can see customers voting with their feet here and going to much cheaper independant garage for servicing

That is usally the case as independants have smaller overheads not having to pay for training and most of the specialist equipment that a dealer does, also they usually support less staff and only one depatment.

If it helps any I've been quoted from

DGW, i would hardly say it was much critisism towards wjh bedford, all i said was i thought it was a lot to pay for what you get, and yes i am 'satisfied' and jon tdi, try getting a new audi for 12K, all my point i was trying to make was that for an affordable car it seems a lot to pay for a service, the parts came to £111 so that means it cost me £170 for them to put the stuff on...thats £85 an hour for labour, does noone else see the point here

i agree. At my 30k service not so long ago i worked out the labour charge as being just under

Try getting a 40K service @ that price from an Audi dealership!!

But they are much more expensive in the first place

Just got my Fabia back from dealers after its 20k service.

It's definitely worth shopping around. If you want to play it pretty safe, call around VAG group garages/dealers nearby. I went to Ross' dealership which is a VW one, and the car was serviced for its 40k there as it was 100 quid cheaper than my more local skud dealerships.

The 10k and 20k services were done by the dealer from which I purchased the car, and I paid too much, frankly. In addition they messed up my xenon height TWICE and that annoyed me. 30k service was done at a tuner, 40k at VW dealer as mentioned.

For the 50k one it's likely to be a different tuner, nearer to home.

I know & fully understand dealerships are forced to have a particular level of expensive premises in a good location (again expensive) and that they have to somehow fund that + their staff + their training + their equipment. A little loyalty is fine. But at the same time it's still my money ;)

It wouldn't surprise me btw if you got a competive quote and went back to your 'local' you could end up with a little discount anyway, if they're a bit thin on work. They can always say no :)
