Diesel Engie question

Recommended Posts

I bought a brand new Skoda Octavia mk4 2.0 TDI (150hp) 2024.. but I have a doubt, is it true that you should leave the car running for about 5 minutes upon arrival at your destination to let the turbo cool down?

No, that’s complete nonsense .

I know, but at the dealer the “technician manager” told me that, so I don’t know, is very confusing

You expect dealers to have good product knowledge? - simply put, they do not.

The introduction of water cooled turbos and electric auxiliary pumps many years ago made that advice complete nonsense on any vehicle built in the last "many years".

No need at all, advice used to be on all Turbo cars that its good for the Turbo Charger to drive a bit more gently at the end and begining of a journey to allow it to heat up (start) and cool down (end) if you have been driving hard. If the car is too hot the fan will keep running after you stop on the the Octavia.
