Guide on electric tailgate retrofit

Hello gents!

 

I own a '21 Octavia NX combi Style. I would like to retrofit an electric tailgate . There a few write-offs around me which have the electric tailgate , does anyone know what exactly do I need to part from another car?

 

I suppose I would need the following:

1. electric struts

2. strut mounts

3. Boot button

4. button located on the driver front door cover for the boot 

5. rear bumper sensor

 

Is there any special module that I would need to part?

Also, there is a long way until then, but if you know what exactly needs to be coded in VCDS, that would be great!

As far as I found I need the following:

1. Electric struts - 2 x 5E7827851

2. Strut mounts -  4x 657827850

3. Tailgate button - should work the existing one

4. Button located on front door cover - 565959831

5. Rear bumper sensor ( not sure ) - 1x 5E3962239

"tailgate button" you say it should work with the existing one ? i assume you mean the one in the centre ? No you need one one in the tailgate to close it.

Also it will need coding (I guess)

yes, you're right! I would need another one on the cover of the boot in order to close the tailgate. 

And yes, I would need coding after all the hardware is in.

Update:

It seems that for this retrofit you need the following:

1. Electric struts - 2 x 5E7827851

2. Strut mounts -  4x 657827850

3. Button on the inside of the tailgate cover ( couldn't find the part number ) 

4. Button located on front door cover - 565959831

5. Rear bumper sensor - 1x 5E3962239

6. Soft close hatch on the tailgate side ( possible the hatch on the boot itself might be different )  - ( couldn't find the part number ) 

7. Cabling 

8. Dataset + calibrating + SFD unlock for module coding

 

Extras ( possible ) :

1. New Keyless gateway ( the old one might work , not sure ) 

2. Module located in the boot ( the old one might work , not sure )  

 

It's an expensive retrofit which might not be justified.  As far as I understood, the MQB Evo platform is very expensive to retrofit. 

 

If anyone tries this, do let us know.
