Aircon: Passenger side issue (no cold air)

Featured Replies

Morning all,

Apologies for creating a post but having done some research I didn't want to hijack any of the existing ones as they are for different cars or different issues.

I also wanted to ask for any advice from you knowledgeable wizards to avoid being shafted by the main stealer.

I believe I have the opposite issue to this user who can't heat their drivers side.

My issue: Climate blows nice cool air onto the driver, into the glove box, into the arm-rest-storage and into the rear vents.

It does not blow any cool air into the passenger vents or passenger footwell.

I have tried the various recalibration scenarios from the thread I've linked and the car did do some things - but did not change the output into the passenger side temperature wise.

I can get all vents to blow hot. I can get all vents to blow strong or gentle.

Car is a MY20 (69 reg) with dual zone climate control.  I have AC activated all year round.

Summary: Passenger side receives only warm/hot air while the rest of the climate system works flawlessly.

Many thanks and apologies if I have missed out any obvious key information.

Sorry to bump my own thread. I managed to steal a room thermometer to get a temperature reading.

33 degrees passenger vent with AC set to 16.

14 degrees driver vent with AC set to 16. (The humidity dropped, I took the photo very soon after turning the engine on)

Ambient temperature 17.5.

I have a similar problem, you have a refrigerant leak.  The air is colder by the drive because it's closer to the compressor, but the air warms up as it get to the other vents.

+1 for this.

I had the same problem on my Octavia recently.

Drivers side was cold but passenger air was ambient temperature.

After refilling the AC gas, both sides are now fine.
