Fabia 1.2 TSi DSG - 40k service recommendations ?

Featured Replies

Just calling in from the Yeti forum.

My elderly mum's 64 plate Fabia is hardly doing any miles, but its on 40k and due at least an oil change.

What would you recommend ?

I thinking brake fluid and spark plugs are sensible - anything else ? (I presume cambelt is a daft 140k these days?)

Oil and oil filter, air filter, spark plugs check anti freeze strength brake fluid could be changed check alternator belt and change if slightly cracked wuld recommend changing auto box filter and oil, would also check brake pad condition have noticed that they may seem plenty of thivkness but due to pad make up they can crumble badly, rear shoes last well unless handbrake cable is sticking up to you if you want to pull drums off and check cylinders and shoes, give all rubbers a good look over i have found a spray with silicone spray and a wipe with a rag keeps them clean and supple DO NOT USE WD 40

Air filter added, thanks. I don't think the Gearbox oil needs changing yet - it's had an easy life and is smooth.

Obviously lots of very short journeys, no amount of servicing will really help offset the damage from never getting properly hot but replace oil and filter due to condensation contamination and spark plugs because modern engines eat them, anything else is really a waste of money but try and persuade your mum to run the car on premium grade petrol only as this will help keep the fuel and exhaust system clean and reduce any pinking on light throttle openings.

Do not change the cam belt since it has a timing chain if a Mk2 1.2 TSI Euro 5.

@Prezafab  The DQ200 DSG gearbox might not need changing the 2 oils because there is no service schedule for that.

But has it had the Service Campaign '34H5' done since 2017, which was on some DQ200,s from 2013-2015?  *FREE* if outstanding.

Do not let anyone touch the DQ200 that does not know what the are doing.

The Service Campaign was because of failures, heat, pressure, leaks, cracks.   There is no filter to change.

Less dismantling required with a Fabia.

Just noticed you have a 2.0 Fabia - that was my mum and dad's first one in 2004. So easy going to drive.

Mines a been a little 'upgraded' because I'm not such an easy going driver.
