Thinking of getting a karoq again

Featured Replies

Had a karoq se l .1.5 manual in 2021, it suffered from difficulty in going from 3 to 4 gear and the kessy key would play up not locking the car + mirrors would not close on locking, the garage told me to do more miles to charge battery as the system will shut down various other systems to compensate for low battery..

Thinking about getting another so Has anybody noticed if these concerns are still present on the latest cars.

We’ve a 2020 Sportline 1.5 dsg and (touch wood) had no issues with it during our 15 months of ownership apart from an ‘SOS speak to workshop’ message that came up intermittently and which the dealer dealt with by way of a software update.

Blimey I had forgotten about that SOS thing, probably because I just use to ignore it, hopefully that's fixed by now, never had an auto, just makes me think Megabucks when they go wrong.....

Long before shutting down subsystems, low battery will start developing sulfation, which deteriorates the thing. For this reason we should not let the battery rest at less than 12.4V.

I don't drive much and so I have to charge the battery with the external charger rather frequently. A Bluetooth battery monitor helps me keep an eye on the battery resting voltage.

I've had no issues with the 3-4 gear change, or KESSY, although have covered around 17k miles in the first year of ownership (2023 1.5 manual SE L).

Not the easiest car to drive in traffic (see thread on here) , although has proved pretty economical (see my Fuelly link below).

Looks like they may have  cured the gear problem I and others had + you covered enough miles to make sure the battery didn't get to low on charge, but the power cutting out is a bit concerning...

One of the “extras” you might find at the dealers, is a battery conditioner/charger, prominently displayed. I got one for my Octavia, which did improve the battery, somewhat (5 years old, but only 20k miles).  Yet to use it on my Karoq (2500 miles and a year old).

Power cutting out is not an issue if you go DSG.

No issues here with my 1.5 DSG.

Could well be moving on from our 2020 Sportline 1.5 dsg if you’re interested? Pm
