Antifreeze (Coolant)

Featured Replies

Anyone know if the antifreeze for a Mk4 Fabia TSI has to conform to a particular specification?

Can't find any documentation on this.

I've got some Halfords antifreeze, (pink stuff), but there's no specification numbers on the can. Not sure if I'd do any harm if I used this.

Are you even certain that's antifreeze? I'm not. Methylated spirts and paraffin are sometimes sold with pink colourants too.

With a car this new, why take risks, just buy a 1 litre container of pre-mixed (50/50) G12evo from any VW Group dealership.

I'd doubt if Halfords etc are up to date with truly 100% compatible coolant for this age of VW Group car.

Is it G13 VW are now up to on specs ?

I have used generic pink OAT Antifreeze before with no issues. Normally they say G10 or higher on their spec anyway

No, G12 evo is newer than G13, bizarrely.

No of course not, this is Germany with their love of their own numbers and specifications, which they change their minds on and also have to update

There was G11, G12, G12+, G12++, then G13 so what would be next - G14, no, G13+ no,    .   .   .

G12evo of course!

If you must keep to the latest German or VW dictates then you want VW TL 774-L.  VW don't make the stuff so there are plenty of VW TL 774-L stuff about.

With a 2022 car you shouldn't  need to worry about topping up the coolant.
