MIB3 map update

Latest file download is called ECE2025 with a date stamp of 48/2024.

After installing it, the version comes out as v24.6

So it starts as a 2025 file, then is dated November 2025, and finally is dated June 2024 when installed. Brilliant!

Why they can't correlate the pre- installation labels with the post- installation labels is bizarre.

Think   @MartiniB labelled it correctly in the mib2 series updates so there isn't a problem. You get freeze dates and production dates. The actual date you see on the screen and is in the files, we got told how to read them (I asked for a  bright spark) tallies with the connected services date. 24.6 in this case. You can't better that offline currently.

So it's all sorted now we have all the reference dates. The bright spark method allows those into this type of thing to read the VW and Seat files so we know what is what (YY.MM). The files are interchangeable but you only want to update with something newer, hence why we needed the bright spark. MartiniB can now table that as well with assurance.

Bright spark bit>>

Technical Note - Derivation of the YY.DD as shown on the Infotainment Screen

I have now been told how to read that YY.DD date off the files after putting out my request for some time for a bright spark into these Mib3 files. It's been delivered. If you don't want to load up the file you can look up what year the and periods the files relate to. It's important with MIB3 files you don't alter the contents because you can't they are signed and they will refuse to load. So no tampering with the files like mib2 standard maps.

Anyhow, this is how you do it thanks to C34 on the Briskoda site... only two posts popped up to tell me. You need to install DB Browser for SQLite. This has an extension in it to read the NDS Associate files, the normal SQL Lite brower that is popular won't. Install the MSI of DB Browser for SQLite in the link above.

We now use C34's text... In this example on the file
Update OI_P119_EU_202425_Offline_Update.zip contains data from 23.12 (YY.MM).

You can check this for example in the MIB31_EU.ROOT/3D/PRODUCT.NDS file. This is a SQLite database, you can find this information in the updateRegionTable table.

You open the table up and have a look. Does help if you have database experience image.gif.fc1a25cd5af2cc2d75538714856c14e4.gif.

Just thought I'd post the brief summary of details for those who don't know, and those of us who haven't time to download software to analyse the data.

I downloaded the latest ECE2025 as well and have been waiting for it to update, but my car is already at v24.8, so I guess I wasted my time....🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Why @MartiniB posts YY.DD now.

When you give up with connect services and use the free downloads like they were on mib2 on Skoda and VW...  they are only applicable once you are past the one installed. Will take 6-12 months.

You don't need to analyse the files it's only the YY.MM which is of interest to compare with what's installed. These files are only for when you don't have the map services mib3 connect services contract.

As MartiniB says standard practice of the Vag group is to release the map update twice a year offline, June and November. Freeze, production and testing means there is a delay. You get what you pay for. The online contract gives you monthly updates or take the free route of six monthly updates.

The software decode is only for us people that want to compare files across the Vag group since at times VW is ahead of Skoda and vice versa. They are interchangeable. Seat is a bit lost on updates at the minute offline so use these.

BTW @MartiniB is the resident expert on maps on the Briskoda site which he sniffs out and indexes on the audio etc bit of the board. The mib3 thread is here:

Well worth checking it out from before June and before November. Detailed conversations get put there.

Same here 🤦

There have been instances where the contract runs out but they still get an update. Evident they aren't sharp enough to stop it.

The process is to read off the cars yy.mm and compare with @MartiniB 's thread referenced rather than dive onto the Skoda site. MartiniB is telling you what you will end up with and those files generally are indexed and up before Skoda puts a web wrapper on them.

Some of us have been playing this game for a bit now but we now know what yy.mm of mib3 you'll end up with before downloading them and installing them... it saves time, why I'd been asking for a knowledge guy out there to tell us where it was in the file, fear not MartiniB will do that, saves the sweat.

Hello my self YASH i m from India i owned facelift Kodiaq 2L TSI EA 888 Gen 3
recently i updated my Columbus MIB 3 (has NAV button) system SW from 0306 to 0324 to 0330. It was successful with the red engineering menu.

My old system info is:
Device part number: 3V0035832L
Hardware: H22
Software: 0306
Navigation database: 21.7
Media Codec: f9e14198f7aab72315764a90167cddc388ec950c

NEW system info is:
Device part number: 3V0035832L

Hardware: H22

Software: 0330

Navigation database:

As you can see in the photo the Navigation database version is missing and my NAV didn't work at all it keeps loading on starting navigation... nor working on Digital cockpit. Help!
WhatsApp Image 2025-03-08 at 18.59.44_2540396a.jpg

Also tried to update map (india map 8gb) from Update portal
and followed the MIB3 colombus pdf for usb case but didn't work as well
also contacted the dealer but no luck.
need Help!

Probably the navigation FeCs. Generally you'd have been better not to have updated the firmware then the only question would have been getting the navigation map in. It's the firmware update. You might be better off posting on a firmware thread. There is the normal stuff about loading in the maps etc. Not sure whether a firmware update deletes the maps. If it's some package from somewhere you might have ended up with the European FeCs rather than the RoW Navigation FeCs thus why I say you need a firmware expert on Mib3.

Also photographing the FeCs before and after would show you what changed.

I agreed! And also i m new to this issue and didn't found anything regarding my nav database version missing.

My OBDELEVEN says the same thing

Update- i also found that wifi-hotspot also not working its their but cant turn it on (not greyed), so will this issue connected to the navigation database version missing issue?

Screenshot_20250308_201850_OBDeleven.jpg

Well the firmware files are only suppose to be used by dealers with the release notes they get on their intranet system. Probably some instruction not followed. You might need vag systems. Over to an expert.

@YashD111 have a look at the firmware v330 file you downloaded - in part of the file name does it have EU? Or ROW?

As well as that it may need the Vag mothership being told the firmware was swapped continents why AA etc has vanished. In other wards the FeCs have been wiped. So yes the firmware used is important.

On MartiniB main thread people have come along trying to get European cars with Mib3 working in Africa. Old chestnut with mib2. Mib2 high no maps. Mib2 standard you could adjust the map file to work. Can't do that with mib3, SLA locked. It seems there are package modules that can change Europe into America but one to do that for Africa hadn't been found. This will be all closed information and files leaked out from Vag.

Wrong firmware on the unit may render the FeCs... enablement switches off. There is a mib enthusiast group that lurks on a message board might be able to help. Probably those files are coming from them posted up on Mibsolution but without the documentation. As is the way that website operates. They are lifted off the Vag dealer systems but the notes don't get published with them.

I m not clear but i found one person (GERMANDNA) https://www.instagram.com/germandna_india?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

claiming that your car misses the base map file comes with the car (which the navi db was 21.7 and SW 306)

But now its empty he said so first need to install those base map then 99% you'll be able to update to the latest map file (for me INDIAN map data is 8gb [OI_P129_MRM_INDIA_202448_Offline_Update.zip])

(Also the installation pdf is not that clear in terms of instruction so i m also confused about point 5 & 6

https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/Download/Map-updates-mib3.pdf

But dont know how to get base map.🥲 and in india we have limited technicians who actually have knowledge. And to find them is like finding nail in the grass.

Thanks for the reply.

I will post the solution once i found or skoda technician founds it. So someone else can do easily.

For what it's worth on 5 & 6 I did posted all the navigation PDFs on this post if its a question of interpretation.

https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/updating-the-inbuilt-mib3-satnav-offline.472408/

Given you'd got the firmware in I assumed you'd probably mastered unzip the navigation file correctly. You use 7 zip ideally to unzip. You have to get the files in the route.

As far as looking for the original file you could probably pick any file before or at that date in the Vag group. Mib mapcare works by allowing you to install upto and before so if it's that. Before your original map would be fine if you can find a mib3 map before that period. Also on that other thread we were told how to read the mm.yy which might come in use when looking for files if you need to go backwards before going forward. You do this looking on a separate file copy so as to not corrupt the good copy.

It can’t be. You said you had v306 updated to v330 - the version you’ve quoted here is version 324 so while it is RoW it’s not what has been installed. You need to find the v330 that you’ve shown in your screenshots as installed in the car.

oh, sorry my mistake i copied the wrong file name which was earlier installed successfully then i updated from v324 to v330 (was installed in the Skoda workshop. But the navigation database issue still persists and they don't have any clues on how this happened.
apologise for the wrong v. info

Ok - this should be v330 for RoW. Maybe download software again from here maybe and see if this fixes it (the zip with P33000P in the name)
