GPS stopped working on Data Plug with Skoda Connect LITE

Featured Replies

I've been using the Skoda Connect LITE app on my iPhone for many years with a Skoda Data Plug and found it very useful to track refuelling, mileage, vehicle data, etc.

It relies on a Skoda Data Plug in the OBD socket and quite suddenly from June1st the GPS location feature has stopped working - don't know if it's relevant but the Amundsen sat nav still shows GPS data OK.

I've messaged Skoda Customer Support who requested a screenshot showing the lack of GPS data, but heard nothing from them...

Does anyone else use Skoda Connect LITE with a Skoda Data Plug, and if so are you also not seeing the GPS data?

I'm not sure if it's another Skoda/VAG not keeping a subscription updated problem (like the loss of TMC data) or whether I just have a Data Plug that's failed?

I think a major update of the app came out recently whereby MyŜkoda has changed interface and removed the vehicle health report feature.

I wonder if at the same time the "Lite" version was crippled?

It's definitely related to the app, I've fitted a different Data Plug and get the same problem. So that's eliminated a faulty Data Plug.

Just very strange that only the GPS data is missing, every other vehicle health measure is still there - mileage, distance, speed, boost pressure, exhaust temperature, oil temperature, coolant temperature, intake temperature and throttle position.

So to me it feels like either it's a bug in the updated app or some subscription that Skoda have let lapse?

Skoda Customer Support are their usual incommunicative selves :wall:

The new app is quite unintuitive too.

I might be wrong,  but it feels more geared towards the newer model of cars.

Do I need a data plug for 70 reg 5E?
