Buying a used Superb Sportline Estate, what options to look for?

Featured Replies

I'm on the lookout for a 21-23 2.0 TSI Superb Sportline Estate, I don't know much about what was standard spec at the time and what was optional.

I definitely want virtual cockpit and preferably rear camera but not so fussed about that as it's a relatively cheap retrofit. Can anyone recommend any other options i should lookout for?

look for front matrix LEDs, ACC, lane assist, BSM,

check if the front bumper is not damaged; front radar is in the grille and cannot be manually aligned

avoid panoramic sunroof

avoid the DNUA 272PS 2018-2020 engine

Is there a particular issue with the 272 is it all from that era or just certain ones?

although it has 7s DSG DQ381, it became GPF (and lost MPI injectors), some say it has no good power/dynamics

yet newer 280ps DNFE has completely different turbo and has the best [stock] dynamics from all 3

Thanks, LED's and ACC look to be standard on the Sportline.

Is the pan roof bad on the Superb? I had one on an A4 estate a few years back and loved it, unfortunately the car lasted 3 months before it was stolen

Ignore any comments about the 272, I’ve owned one from new 2020, it’s amazing, loads of power and very linear, I work at Skoda and don’t see any faults apart from the thermistor housing leak, but this is on all 2.0tsi, the gpf/opf isn’t a issue and the new 280 has one, to put it in context the early 280 was good the 272 is in my opinion fantastic and the new 280 is also very good, just depends on your finances at what you want to pay,

What is the issues with the pan roofs?

Mostly that they eventually cause water leaks from the drain channels.
But the reason I wouldn’t have one is that I’ve seen quite a few crack and some that even exploded while the car was being driven.

Wow now that has totally put me off getting a pan roof !

Wonder why? Maybe the length of car and chassis twist etc ? Or simply bad design?

Try to get one that had as option added Travel assist and Traffic sign assist. TSR almost impossible to retrofit, if you wanted to, Travel assist can be done.

I have a panoramic sunroof on a 2023 Superb and had one on my 2014 SII. No leaks or exploding sunroofs ever. Not sure what the Sportline has as standard

I'm going to hold out for one with a pan roof, might take a while as I want meteor grey too. Only seen 1 for sale in the past 3 months.

As said above, get the Matrix lights, the VC is great, much more than I ever expected!

I was fixed on a few things things, from experience most of them not easy to retrofit: the hitch (if you tow, I do), yeah you can fit aftermarket but the OE is "the" hitch, the sunroof - I love a hole on the ceiling, yeah it requires a bit more maintenance but so what, I've had cars with sunroofs all my life of motoring (~25years so far) and except the one in the Range Rover (go figure 😝)none has given me any headache, the vario floor, extremely practical and costly to retrofit, and obviously leather (but not for you) and not Sportline, which meant not easy to find ....

For other tricky things to retrofit, go see Aperture's topic here, which gives you an idea of how is to retrofit things, and you can choose if go that way or wait for a car specced as you want .... amazing read, sit down and take a tea to relax before the plunge 🤪

@leolito thanks for the link!

Matrix lights look to be standard on the Sportline, at least 2021+ and almost all cars on the market at the moment have VC so should be okay with those 2.

Personally, I don't like leather seats in cars so i'll be happy with the alcantara n the Sportline!

It could be a long wait! There is a Meteor Grey 280 on sale at the moment which i'm tempted with but it has no sunroof.

You can check out what was standard and what was optional by looking at the relevant brochure for the various years here: https://autocatalogarchive.com/skoda/

An odd one, according to the 2022 brochure lane assist and blind spot detection (side assist) came together. My car has side assist but no lane assist 🤷‍♀️

Should be able to activate it with the right software, have you gone through all the menus to make sure it's definitely not there?

I think mine is the same actually (its also a 2022). If you find a way to get it working then I would be glad to hear from you! I've had a bit of a hunt around to try and find it but no luck so far (although I wouldn't have said my search for it has been completely comprehensive).

There's plenty of written guides and YouTube videos about how to enable it using VCDS on pre-facelift cars but apparently it's slightly different on the facelift model. There are 10+ changes to be made so I'd rather wait to find a definite guide for the facelift model. To be honest I had it in my old Octavia and hated it, but having just done Leeds > London and back I've found the ACC amazing so was curious to see them working together.

There's this but all the instructions seem to be scattered around several posts
